National Cancer Survivors Day is today, June 6th! It's a CELEBRATION for those who have survived, an INSPIRATION for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of SUPPORT for families, and an OUTREACH to the community. My HOPE is that one day a cure will be found for those that fought a brave fight. God be with each of the families today and always. 7 years ago today Brandon was officially diagnosed with leukemia! He immediately started on his chemotherapy regimen! It was a tough 5 years and 5 days but we knew what needed to be done some days were harder than others but we didn’t miss a dose. We are so very thankful for Dr. Eric and the entire team at Kidz Medical! Brandon’s WBC and platelets are where we want them and he feels great! Gleevec washed out his pigmentation and once he came off he has incredible coloring! Thank you again for our amazing family and friends that have continued to support us and pray for his full healing he’s doing amazing! Cancer does NOT discriminate! It hits the young and the mature! The most healthy and the not so healthy! Getting Brandon’s Leukemia diagnosis at the age of 7 after just losing Brianna 4 short years earlier was a gut wrenching. I was devastated and in complete shock just hearing the word Cancer! We are coming up on 7 years in a few weeks and 2 year June 10th in Treatment Free Remission. He’s overcome so much over the past few years. His journey has had highs and lows but he’s always kept a smile on his face accept the few times his fever was high and we had to head to St. Mary’s for a few days. Dr. Eric has been a blessing and we are so grateful for him the entire medical team. We have made lots of friends and Brianna opened new opportunities for us to help families that had also received a cancer diagnosis! You may ask how do we help?? Well~ We have sent care packages to the child/family with some of their specific needs and something they will enjoy, we have helped with travel expenses, food, assist in bills and sadly we have assisted in cases for funeral expenses😔! Of course my hope is a cure is found soon! Children should enjoy all that life has to offer not sit in hospitals going through chemotherapy! That’s just a small part of what BCHSF does. We truly appreciate our community support! Brianna had a BIG heart and loved her friends I know this is what she wants us to do. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Leukemia Awareness Month! Both are very significant in our house. We were 3 years into helping families that had experienced a loss through tragedy! I was in the process of figuring out what’s next for Heavenly Smiles then June 5, 2014 Brandon was diagnosed with CML leukemia. The words “your child has cancer” are words that leave you speechless and broken. After meeting the @post_fl I knew Brianna wanted us to play a part in helping families that had children diagnosed with cancer so the changes began. Brianna’s butterfly was updated and I knew our purpose again. Over the past 6 years we have met some pretty AMAZING Warriors and sadly we have had some pretty special warriors that fought hard that are guardian angels now! Our children deserve more that 4%! I would love to see all cancers wiped off the map! NO MORE! PLEASE keep all of our child local and far in your prayers and hopefully one day we “together” can end the disease!
