I was thinking about this for a while, and I tend to think that Remus is basically the result of the make Sleep a side discourse, since it did reach Thomas. Like aside from the names, Remus/Remy, he's thotty, sassy, and messes with Thomas' sleeping patterns. Yes he's really amped up compared to Sleep, but there's always some discrepancy between the vine characters and the sides. If Remus were a vine character, he'd probably just be Sleep.
That's an interesting idea. Idk I still think him being opposite of the prince would still make more sense and could allow more for Remus' character to show through.
Plus I think Sleep and Remus are way too different for me as characters. Even though the three originals changed from their vine personalities there's still some very obvious characteristics that transferred over. Sleep doesn't feel enough like Remus and Remy is not canonically his name (though I realize that Thomas definitely knows about it).
They may have some small similarities but I think it's in the same way as Patton and Emile. I think Remus' character wouldn't translate well to Sleep.
But obviously we're just theorizing something that never was so it's really up to your own interpret 😅
