These are promos for the 2013 Bratz Holiday dolls and Twisty Styles dolls. Guess who was never released? Sasha. MGA has been giving Sasha the short end of the stick for quite a while. That Holiday Sasha is the best looking one in the line, if you ask me. She'd have been the only one I bought. The Twisty Styles Sasha looks great too (though I like Jade as well). But, MGA decided to show us these wonderful Sasha dolls, and then say, "nah, we're scrapping them." Wth, MGA?
Not to mention she was pretty much always released after the other dolls in every line. Are they trying to say black dolls won't sell so there is no point in releasing her with the rest of the dolls? That's a pretty horrible message to send. Honestly, it makes them look hypocritical. They can't boast diversity then treat their main black doll like this. Since she was released later than all the other dolls, more often than not she was pretty hard to find. I don't think I ever saw Neon Runway Sasha or Heartbreakerz Sasha in stores. Though, Strut It Sasha was a shelf warmer, but that's because she was kind of an unappealing doll. They either made her dolls amazing, but distributed them horribly, or made her dolls pathetic so they ended up shelf warmers.
I love Bratz, but I can't support this kind of racist behavior. If MGA doesn't stop giving Sasha the short end of the stick, they're doomed.
Things MGA needs to bring back when Bratz comeback next year:
Old characters, Felicia, Kumi, Kina, Katia, Nevra
Creativity
Quality
Things MGA doesn't need to bring back:
Babyz/Big Babyz, Little Bratz, Kidz, Catz, Bratzillaz
Reusing shoe molds for EVERY SINGLE DOLL
No more painted on pants/tights/leggings (it's so lazy)
Box art is the doll itself rather than an illustration (again, lazy)
Lack of creativity
Lack of quality/attention to detail
They also need to perfect their body mold before making their comeback. If they're going to make the bodies jointed, the knees need to be jointed too. No more click knees. No more rubber, wobbly legs. Make the possibility less limited and the joints stiffer (my Party Jade's joints are so loose she goes limp). Redoing the body mold so many times in 4 years was a huge mistake.
Bratz in 2015
I personally think Bratz are going to fail in 2015. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bratz. They were my first doll passion. However, people have begun to forget about them. They made their first comeback in 2010 but it wasn’t like, “Bratz are back!” It was more like, “hey, there are new Bratz on the shelves.” I was excited at first when they came back, but then realized the quality of the dolls had gone down. The dolls themselves tended to be low quality and they were rather uncreative. I mean, the 2011 Funk n Glow dolls all looked pretty much identical! Not to mention the prototypes tended to look amazing, but the actual dolls were pretty lame. Why put awesome prototypes on the back of the boxes only to give us less impressive dolls (I’m looking at you Masquerade dolls)? These past 4 years have not been good for Bratz. If they can step up the quality and creativity they might stand a chance, but it’s likely that Monster High and Ever After High have already taken over the doll world and Bratz may not be able to keep up. I guess we’ll see if they blow us away or leave us less than impressed. Truthfully, I’ve seen more people getting excited about MH and EAH more so than the Bratz 2015 comeback, including myself. I’m losing hope for them, which is pretty disheartening.
