those are the magic words , ones that could have be spoken by cooper himself . with busy work schedules ( important cases! pressing timelines! one learned early on in the academy how vital the first hours of every crime case could be . ) there is hardly time to get a good meal in , although cooper personally likes to take his time for exactly that no matter where he is , not only to see what the local diners have to offer but also because one’s true potential is easier to assess with a full stomach and a clear head . that is why he meditates , and why he tries to eat balanced meals when he can , but when he can’t do one of those or either he always knows to fall back on his most reliable crutch - by all means , possibly his first love! nothing could beat a good cup of coffee in the morning , or even in the afternoon , the taste vibrant and rich when at its best and still energizing and with a trademark flavor cooper loves no matter what sort . he could always make room in his day for a cup of coffee , from either in his assigned office or at a cafe or diner on the road to any place who seems to serve it in the towns he would be currently staying in for work . his days just aren’t complete without it . and one should always be kind to themselves at least once a day if not always , treating himself to a cup could be seen as his own small act of kindness like that . well , he sees it , and he is sure diane would agree - although he could consult her about that , she has commented on his caffeine habits once or twice before already when reviewing his tapes .
“ don’t you worry , doctor geiszler , so do i! but we should still sit down and make the most of it , wouldn’t you agree? nothing like a cup of good coffee to get one all the rest through the day . not to mention to start it! i take it you are also a man who knows the value of it ,” he addresses the biologist , sitting in the booth across from his as he nurses his own cup of coffee - already ordered and just about ready for a refill - and while it is not often that the fbi needs outside help , cooper likes to assess his resources when he can and when he thinks it can only help , the biologist across from him someone he knows he could always ring up and ask for a hand in trying to solve his cases . nature , one should know , is a tricky thing and underestimating it could be foolish at best . not so the agent , whose fascination with everything belonging and coming from the earth ( especially trees , his upbringing in the northeast only adding to this ) and who is always prepared and ready to expand his knowledge or rely on specialist - especially when his cases are concerned . “ now , i know i have been quite ominous on the phone to you , but i wanted to discuss this in person , it just felt ... righter . like it is supposes to . but there’s been a new case i’ve been assigned including a murder - quite terrible if you ask me , another young girl - the supposed crime scene’s soil needs to be examined and i don’t trust anybody else but you . there’s been footprints next to where she was supposed to be last seen , but also some that don’t belong to a human . it is all quite suspicious , if you’d ask me . the town doesn’t want me to investigate . so , i thought you could . and i’d be most grateful if you could lend a helping hand .”
