Mama is always quick to give her eldest boy a hug and a kiss on the cheek whenever he visits. She misses him every single day, even though she's very proud of him and his brother both for achieving their dreams.

"How's my precious son been? Have you been eating and sleeping well since the move? How's your brother? Is he alright?" She's full to the brim with questions. She can't help it. "Any more excitement since you two defeated that turtle guy?"

it was amazing the amount of hustle and bustle a mere scratch could stir up in the castle. and she thought she was the worrywort! it wasn’t like she was out taking on ginormous bosses in foreign lands — well, not this particular time. the scrape she received was genuinely from a simple stroll in her gardens. she wasn’t paying enough attention to where she was going and just nicked her arm on a thorn. it was as simple as that, but the moment her toad attendants saw blood, they were sent into a panic. one of them even fainted! can you believe it? the whole situation had her face-palming. somehow it escalated to the point where mario was called over to the castle. for what reason? only the stars could say. mario wasn’t a real medic, as far as she knew, so why trouble him for someone as small as this.

when she saw mario burst through the front doors of her castle, she’d had enough. the toads were immediately kicked from the throne room after a very stern reprimand that they would surely feel for days to come. it wasn’t often that their princess became upset, but in those rare instances, one could swear the whole top of the mushroom castle jumped and shook right off the cement walls. this time was no different.

once things settled back down, princess peach sat perfectly still on a chair while allowing mario to personally dress her wound, if it could even be called such. her eyes were cast off to the side to avoid looking at him directly. for some odd reason, she felt a bit embarrassed over the events that lead up to this. while she enjoyed mario’s company, she felt awful that he came all this way just to tend to such a minor issue. this could’ve easily been avoided. 

❝ i'm sorry to cause you such trouble, mario. ❞ she said finally, unable to bear the silence any longer. ❝ please forgive me. i hope we didn’t ruin your entire day. ❞

by the time she finished her last statement, mario had just finished wrapping the gauze around her arm. his touch was surprisingly gentle. she felt minimal pain during the entire session and for that she was forever grateful. a sweet smile illuminates her face as she leans forward to plan a kiss right on the tip of his nose..

"Yes, dear?" She's eager to know the answer, thinking it will be wholesome and innocent. Not at all a dig at her precious boys, or in any way terrible.
