001. } Main - Holy Bananas;
This takes place semi-directly after the Super Mario Movie and following Bowser's @koopzilla escape from the pickle jar and his return to his own Kingdom. Since the Super Star didn't work out, Bowser turns his attention towards the Jungle Kingdom's artifact of power - the Crystal Coconut.
Since the coconut wields the great power of granting wishes, but with the downside that only the touch of a royal Kong family member could unlock it, Bowser sets his sights on kidnapping King Cranky.
DK intervenes on behalf of his father, agreeing to meet with Bowser over the other's intrusion only to walk into a trap and have the Koopa King use a capture power collar on him which linked the two by their own powers shared by a magical tether. This magic would keep DK from being able to wander too far from Bowser's side, so - essentially a prisoner, DK was made to accompany Bowser to the island where the Crystal Coconut was enshrined within the temple of Inka Dinka Doo.
Unfortunately for them, the area was also patrolled by the Jungle Kingdom's war prisoners - defectors of the kingdom that had in the past split into separate kingdoms and sought to cause mayhem and division amongst Kongs. Using each others strengths to fight their way through to the coconut's resting place, DK would have to once again use the touch of a royal Kong to wrest the jewel free. Completely exhausted and mentally mute by this point, he thought about how much he wish he had a banana only for that thought to count towards the coconut's 100 year wish. However, this wish would also transfer some of the coconut's power to said banana and cause the original vessel of the coconut to shatter.
DK ends up eating the banana, and the power of the crystal coconut transfers to him, giving him small abilities such as light shields and granting small wishes occasionally when the power gauge is fully charged.
Afterwards, Bowser turns DK loose momentarily, too annoyed by his loss of the coconut to continue dealing with the Kong. He later changes his mind and sends for Cranky to discuss a deal to give him the Kong nation's strongest warrior in return of a truce between their kingdoms (with a 'no' resulting in instant war). DK however goes in Cranky's place again unbeknownst to his father, and ultimately agrees to the Koopa's agreement.
With the power collar still in place and influencing his decisions to be more in tune with Bowser's, DK serves in the Darklands for a few weeks as the Koopa king's subordinate, occasionally attacking his friends and otherwise serving as a war hound for the Darklands. When one of his friends becomes entangled in Bowser's control scheme, he finally puts his foot down and helps both Tadano and Luigi devise a plan to win Tadano's freedom from his own control collar (that he installed himself under Bowser's guide).
Betrayed, Bowser takes it upon him to execute the traitor by using their tether to pull DK in close to a killing swipe, but having been trained to a degree on how to best make use of their shared abilities, DK plays tug of war with the Koopa using their magical tether to wind himself up tightly. Once he let the tension go and shot towards Bowser full speed, the power of the crystal coconut - now consumed banana ignited and formed a shield of light around the Kong's stomach. With it in place, he was able to knock Bowser back and stun him with the magic long enough to be able to remove the control collar.
Having returned home with the threat of Bowser following to take his kingdom, DK works on playing diplomat with the Koopa king now that they're once again equals. Though both seem to be struggling with the transition thanks to how the magic from the control collar seemed to merge their understanding of one another into a more powerful sort of bond that neither can quite ignore completely.
Update on main cuz a lot of stuff is happening in it dslkf;:
Whilst spending time in the Jungle Kingdom, Bowser discovers that DK has had and is able to use the power of the crystal coconut after having consumed the transmogrified crystal-to-fruit. This is due to DK accidentally wishing that he'd wish things didn't end as they did between him and the Koopa king.
Once recognized, Bowser uses a wish to test the waters and wishes DK stays with him so that he can continue to use the crystal to take over kingdoms and get Peach to marry him.
There is a problem neither seems to realize though, and that is the way the crystal shows that exerting it with wishes seems to drain DK's energy to a startling degree.
As Bowser and DK work together back at the Koopa tyrant's castle to figure out how the new crystal works (in exchange for the Kong not having to sleep caged), trouble brews on the distance.
Dread Kong, the first opponent that Bowser and DK faced on the island of the crystal coconut arrives in the Jungle Kingdom with no more magic to bind him to the island as one of the coconut's prisoner of war guards. He's hell bent on getting revenge against DK, showing the two have more history than DK had let Bowser in on. Namely, Dread had once been a ruthless general in the Kong army, having beaten everything DK knows about combat into him. The two had grown close, but would later show as yet another manipulation tactic of Dread to hand pick and selectively train certain Kongs to serve him once he defected from the army. Still not over DK's betrayal to do so, and of course embittered by the royal family's treatment of turning him into a crystal coconut babysitter, the half starved Kong sets his sights on finding DK and killing any Kong that happens across his path as well as eating them.
This behavior is quick to catch the attention of a certain King of Kremlings who upon learning the crystal coconut is no more except its fragment found in the Kong prince's stomach, is also hell bent on finding and trapping the ape.
Forming an unlikely alliance for the time being, Dread and K. Rool decide that to make Bowser give DK up, they will kidnap his child and hold Bowser JR for ransom. Once K. Rool has his coconut back (or what's left of it), then Dread will have the slow and torturous revenge he craves and that no other Kong's meat will satiate.
002.} Peaches & Roses
This verse begins in the past when the Jungle Kingdom is just beginning to get recognized by other kingdoms. During an event to celebrate their relations with the neighboring Mushroom Kingdom, a young DK bumps into Princess Peach who is attending on her parents' behalf. He asks the princess if she prefers sweet or spicy as far as romance goes, and when she chooses sweet, he urges her to 'enjoy the show'.
The great Kong arena is - for the most part a performing ring, and DK (much to Cranky's chargrin) performs by singing and rapping for his fans. Reaching out to Peach via a 'sweet' song, he ends up enraging a young Bowser who has also attended the event in the pursuit of proposing to Peach right away.
In order to help Peach escape her creeper, DK acts like her boyfriend and plays bouncer to keep Bowser (and any other weird guy Peach gives him the signal about) away.
Growing up, the two become close friends. DK eventually stops singing publicly due to his father's insistence that he focus on more kingly affairs and go through royal training and fighting in the arena to show off the Jungle Kingdom's strength. Thankfully he can still be himself around Peach, and he occasionally sings for her.
During a demand for the kingdoms to march on the Darklands thanks to Bowser's recent tantrum, DK assures the princess he has it fine on his own and marches without her. His army returns without him to inform Peach that the prince has fallen.
The verse continues with DK in hell settings such as in helluva boss, dead by daylight, or DHMIS. He's not really aware that he died, and he has both puncture wounds through his stomach and heart still in place.
003.} Midnights become my Afternoon
This verse is basically a past drop for DK. Cranky is not actually his father, but his grandfather. However, due to certain circumstances, Cranky raised a young DK as his son, and DK is none the wiser and probably will never be unless a detailed plot takes place.
Cranky and Wrinkly's child, DK JR. ran away as a teenager and joined the pirate crew of King. K. Rool after wanting more than just the royal life and spending all of their time learning how to serve a kingdom. With an adventurous spirit, they could not turn down the charms that K. Rool explained to them, and seeing as K. Rool was on the hunt for the kingdom's Crystal Coconut, it was only a boon to find a native of the Kong islands willing to join his crew.
JR. and possibly K. Rool or some other kremling (verse/rper dependent) grow closer through their adventures, and eventually JR. becomes pregnant and realizes they can't allow the life they live for their child. Escaping into the night, they make it back to the Kong islands after several months of ship hopping and eventually gives birth to DK III. Due to the Kremling genes, the pregnancy was hard on JR.'s body, and sadly they did not survive long after the birth.
This put the onus of raising DK on Cranky and Wrinkly's shoulders. Opting to not tell their grandson the truth of his origins, Cranky raises DK as his son and the next future king of the Jungle Kingdom.
How they all fit together in Main Verse:
DK's singing career in childhood is for the most part canon in main verse.
Cranky is DK's grandfather in the main verse, but raised DK as his son. DK is none the wiser and will likely never find out or find out why unless more plotting and role-plays are involved.
Bonus Trash Verses:
verse://monkebusinesspodcast
DK has built a following online of viewers who like to react to his reaction content @ dumb and funny online videos. He also streams games on occasions, as well as shares some of his personal rap lyrics via Spotify. One day, he gets face revealed by a nosy and fanatic hacker. Granted it's more of a pec reveal than a face one. DK's social media blows up as a result and he's left to spend the riches of his internet engagement on doing random shit in public for internet clout.

DK (and/or Dread) exist in the Pokémon verse after getting there via pipeline. They're extremely confused as to why there are humans throwing balls at them...probably as much as the humans are when they find out they can talk.

The goodies and baddies of smash are on a gameshow hosted by the overlord hand. Each side is divided into a boyband, and they are scheduled to battle each other via song at the hand's pleasure. Winners may swap a teammate they find a detriment to the losing team in exchange for a stronger team member.
