Vegetable curry and Poha, Vegetable Upma, Oats Idli, Bread Halwa, and Coconut Barfi from the latest Chef Hob AU fic
By @gabessquishytum , @valeriianz , and anon
Whenever I see a Chef Hob AU, I happily roll down a hill into a kitchen. The first dish is a simple vegetable curry which refers to the vegetables in anon's ask. It's potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and peas with different spices. I also added a veggie Poha, which is made of flattened, parboiled rice cooked with carrots, peas, and nuts.

"Now there will be food in the house, that Dream learns to warm up and Orpheus has vegetables to eat. What Dream wasn't expecting was a gorgeous man, covered in tattoos that come with [fun] stories, who's great with Orpheus. Many days pass where Dream breaks from writing to find Hob and Orpheus making dessert together."

Next we have Vegetable Upma and Oats Idli from @gabessquishytum reply to the ask. Upma is made from roasted semolina, cooked with various vegetables, mustard seeds, and different spices. The texture is similar to grits.
Idli is a steamed, round, fermented rice cake, but it can also be made with other grains, in this case oats, which gives it a brownish color instead of the regular white idlis. Semolina idlis are also great, and these variations don't need fermentation, so you can make them in a few minutes. Those round moulds are where you steam them.

"But at weekends Hob comes in to do a special cooked breakfast like pancakes, omelette, vegetable umpa, oats idli (which is Dream’s new favourite thing, its the only thing he can stomach in the morning and it fills him up properly). Hob is fun to have around and it really feels like a family breakfast, which is great for Orpheus."
----
Finally we have Coconut Barfi and Bread Halwa for dessert from @valeriianz addition to the post--so much chemistry between Dream and Hob there!
Halwa is a kind of pudding and can be made with many different ingredients. And barfi actually refers to the shape of the dessert--a diamond! If it was shaped like a ball, the same thing would be called coconut laddoo! There are many kinds of barfis, and Cashew Barfi is my all-time favorite sweet! (Edited to add that barfi in some languages can also refer to the word snow, due to the use of milk products which are white in color, similar to snow. However, in many parts of the country, it refers to any diamond-shaped fudge-like sweet, no matter what the ingredients are.)

"He knows there’s something here. He can see it in the way Hob interacts with Orpheus, showing him how to make simple desserts that his own mom taught him: instant coconut burfi, homemade kulfi, and bread halwa."
-----
I didn't make the Butter Chicken and Kulfi because I already made them for another Chef Hob fic by @valiantstarlights .
I hope we get to see more Chef Hob feeding Dream fics; such delicious dynamics between the two! Although after seeing Tom's pictures today, all I can think of is Model Dream AU! 🥵 Maybe Chef Hob cooks for Model Dream, who usually doesn't have an appetite, but Hob's food is an exception because he cooks with luuuuvvv.
I had fun making these and have enough food for a few meals now 😆.
Bread Halwa is one of the desserts served in weddings in India and I, I make halwa just to fix my sweet cravings! Why??? Because it is easy to make.
Bread Halwa
Every time we go for a wedding, relatives or friends there are Bread Halwa served. Some oily, very greasy with cheap oils, or sometimes with ghee, clarified butter. Sometimes really good with all the ingredients present in them in…
Bread Halwa recipe | Easy Halwa recipe is a popular dessert from Hyderabad cuisine. An easy to prepare, mouth watering sweet that can be served after meals. This halwa can be prepared with white bread or milk bread. I have used milk:water 1:1 ratio. If you need it thicker you can use two cups of milk instead of using water. The amount of sugar can be increased or decreased according to your need.
