You can enjoy a delicious treat at home with these simple bread machine donuts. The bread machine streamlines and eases the process of preparing dough. These donuts will definitely sate your sweet tooth, whether you prefer them plain with powdered sugar or with a chocolate glaze and sprinkles.
Ingredients: 1 cup milk. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 2 tablespoons butter. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 egg. 3 cups all-purpose flour. 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast. Oil for frying. 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting. 1/4 cup chocolate chips optional, for glaze. 1/4 cup colorful sprinkles optional, for decoration.
Instructions: Add milk, granulated sugar, butter, salt, and egg to your bread machine pan. Add the all-purpose flour on top of the liquid ingredients, creating a mound in the center. Make a small well in the center of the flour mound and add the active dry yeast. Place the bread machine pan into the bread machine, select the 'Dough' cycle, and start the machine. Once the dough cycle is complete, remove the dough from the bread machine and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out donut shapes from the dough. You can use a smaller cutter to make donut holes as well. Place the cut donuts and donut holes on a baking sheet, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let them rise for about 30 minutes. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep pan to 350F 175C. Carefully fry the donuts in batches, turning them once they're golden brown on one side, and fry until both sides are golden brown. Remove the fried donuts and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. Optional: Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and dip the tops of the donuts into the melted chocolate. Immediately decorate with colorful sprinkles if desired. Dust the remaining donuts with powdered sugar. Serve your delicious homemade donuts and enjoy!
