a thing that i see a lot of online is doodle instructions 'try this simple doodle' type videos and i dont know what it is but i think i have a theory

a lot of people probabky like to watch them cos theyre /satisfying/ or whatever but i dont know about that and also thats fine i have no issue

the thing that im thinkinh about it like truama and alienation and the effect that this has on our imaginations as people

i know that for some people (myself included) truma can really fuck with your ability to imagine stuff, to free your mind to make things up and i think that the world right now is so fucking rotten that a lot of people probably struggle to or are scared to be creative in the freeform (see the rise of mideful colouring books, colour/paint by number, diamond 'painting' and ofc doodle tutorials)

i also think there is something to be said for a fear of waste, wasting time wasting resources and not having something to show for at the end of it

like if i doodle shit on a piece of paper for an hour and after that throw the page away some ppl might see that as having wasted an hour on nothing and wasted paper (wont anybody thing about the trees!?!?)

i dont know what to say about this except that i think we should try to be freeform imaginative more which is not to say that the things mentioned above are bad but that if we want to imagine and alternative to how the world is now we have to start by relearning how to imagine
