obligatory Emo post now that gish week is over: i am so so SO proud of my team and everything we were able to accomplish this week. this was my first hunt and i honestly couldnt have asked for better company during it. the updates and communication and encouragement just fueled the whole experience and i am very thankful to have gotten to take part in it. you guys are amazing. looking forward to what misha has planned next, and cant wait til we can share all of our submissions with the world! #GETWRECKED

You find the fun and SNAP, the job’s a game.
The working out is feeling good, I like making my muscles sing. Sometimes it’s hard to be kind to what I’ve lost (uh, muscle tone) and appreciate what I’ve gained (experience, a—no, wait). I don’t ever want Desmond to feel like he made me LESS. It’s just a new version of me. Everything requires rebuilding, reframing. A new perspective.
I’ve built up quite the collection of FITNESS TOYS over the years. I mean, it has to be fun, right? At the top of a workout I get a little excited about building a new set. Five standing exercises, five floorwork moves. I’ve got a bosu ball, resistance bands, a stability ball, free weights, slider discs, a medicine ball, two ketel bells… I’ve got all the ingredients to mix it up. And I do.
I can do reps or interval workouts. Just cataloging it or using the interval setting on my Fitbit. To be honest, I still can’t do very many high intensity moves. If I don’t have at least one body part grounding me, I feel like I might accidentally disembowel myself. I don’t know if that’s a c-section thing or just a “you’ve been a glob for a year” sort of thing. Either way, I must lay the foundation. You have to be able to PLANK before you can plank walk. I have to do a lot more basic lunges before I can incorporate the bosu ball for that particular move.

After 3 weeks of working out (interval sets at night) I had lost 0 lbs so I dubbed this month “suck it up September”…I have to create a calorie deficit of 1000 in order to lose 2 lbs a week. Which is much, much harder than doing however many burpees every single day. And I effin hate burpees but I haven’t taken a day off from them since I decided to make changes. But its doable. Desmond and I just have to walk every morning. Even if it’s 85 degrees at 9am and even if he hates the outdoors once we hit the 20 minute mark. It means copious amounts of vegetables. Eggs. Fish. Beans. Bread has to take a backseat. So does dairy.
I even tried a babywearing workout yesterday! Yeah, my arms were wrapped around him the entire time so it was strictly a leg day, but they’re sore today and he actually GIGGLED during squats! How’s that for a reward?
1000 calorie deficit is not easy. When I’m feeling discouraged I just think of Beyoncé’s documentary.
