Mo Troper 7"? Yes, please.

If you know Mo Troper (Portland, Oregon), then you know you're getting top notch power pop. This song has a definite Beatlesque feel to it. Brendan Ramirez (Bory - covered this band on 12/30/23) plays on this and shares vocals.

There is only one song streaming, but there is another song - "When She Says My Name." Only 100 copies of this were made. Mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley.

Bory is Brendan Ramirez, a musician based in Portland, Oregon. We first posted about his music in late 2023. Mo Troper produced and recorded his 2023 album. And Bory appeared on Troper's 7" released late in 2025.

But as far as I can tell, "Never Turns To Night" is all Ramirez. That doesn't mean there isn't a crap ton of power pop that Troper would love. This veers into the range of Big Star, Teenage Fanclub, Tony Molina (although there are no short songs) and Matthew Sweet. Tim Sendra, in his review for AllMusic, states that Bory also has moments that recall "intimate melodic melancholy of artists like Elliott Smith and the Shins".

This album is being released on Bleak Enterprises (the label run by Ducks Ltd.'s Tom McGreevy).

Bory is Brendan Ramirez (Portland, Oregon) who studied jazz guitar at Willamette University (Salem, Oregon). And according to the Pitchfork review, Ramirez's degree has an emphasis in improvisation. I'm not sure how or when Bory started, but this is indie pop reminiscent of Mo Troper (without the high pitched vocals). I mean, Mo Troper does record and produce this, so it's not surprising that it bears a "sounds-like" stamp.

Troper's influence over the Portland scene was already well established with his own work and recent work with other bands like Diners.

"Who's A Good Boy" is released by Earth Libraries (Birmingham, Alabama).
