The more I think about it, the more I think Brendan Lukens is my spirit animal, and it's not just because we have the same name. He grew up playing sports and eventually found music, just the same as me. He faced/faces the same mental health issues that I continue to struggle with, and his story and where he is now helps me to realize that at the end of the day there's hope to get better. His music not only makes me happy instrumentally, but his lyrics are written with such passion and he makes it look easy. The topics he covers, such as girls and mental health, have me singing along and humming them to myself on a regular basis, as well as taking them to heart, thinking on them, and applying the lessons and principles to my life. In my own writing I oftentimes find myself studying his work for inspiration with my own and I can feel confident drawing my inspiration from him. Not only do I look to him as a musical leader, but he's one of the biggest role models in my life right now. Whether you see this or not Brendan Lukens, I just wanted to say thank you.
