Our conversation with Brennan opened me up to a new side of social media marketing through his participation and job at Crossroads. I enjoyed learning more about his initiatives and goals for Crossroad's social media plan, such as the new developments that have been created for college students, teenagers, and older generations on certain platforms. One of my favorite parts about the lecture was a slide that showed a pyramid of starting with the business mission, goals for the organization, department goals, specific social media goals, social media tactics, and then the ways of obtaining social media metrics. I liked how this conversation connected us to what Professor Tripepi had said a few weeks ago about paid, owned, and earned advertisements. This idea still constantly goes through my mind as I search my own social media sites and see the advertisements on the side. I am interested in learning more about these topics and how I can apply it to whatever position I have in the future.
I thought it was cool to learn more about the population that Crossroad's serves and the plans that they have for attracting future audiences. I was shocked to learn more about some of the metrics that Brennan reported on with the success of his media plan. After hearing Brennan speak to us, I actually am interested in learning more about Crossroads and possibly going to a service at some point in the new future.
