Your Spiderverse post got me thinking...I wonder if Sanzaru's decision to nuke Penelope&Bentley's romance is similar to what Marvel did to Peter&MJ in "One More Day". Marvel ret-coned Peter & MJ's marriage because they didn't think young male readers could relate to a married Spiderman. And Sanzaru might have figured that their target demo of adolescent male furries wouldn't be able to relate to Bentley anymore if he was in a stable relationship or (HEAVEN FORBID) married to Penelope in Sly 4

Bentley/Penelope isn’t the only ship that gets scuttled. Sly/Carmelita is more unstable than ever. The steady relationship which began in Sly 3 is immediately ripped up when the tutorial makes a point of introducing Carmelita as “the Ex-Girlfriend”. Two interesting characters remaining interesting within the bounds of a healthy romantic relationship is hard to write totally lame, lol!!!

Much more trendy and marketable for the Cooper Gang to never grow up, remaining in their decades-long adolescence. bros b4 hoes brah

Just wanted to let you know that your blog (mainly the great essays on why Sly 4 was a sexist mess) is what lured me back to Tumblr after abandoning it over a year ago due to the toxicity of the userbase. I wrote essays and drew parody comics to illustrate my problems with Sly 4 back when the game was new. And a lot of folks who disagreed with me couldn't do so without also lobbing personal attacks. It's a relief to see that the fandom has calmed down on that front and blogs like yours exist

Oh hey! You’re the one who drew that great two-panel comic comparing Sly lecturing Tsao about Respecting Women to how he and Bentley force Carmelita into degrading herself. I love that, it so concisely and sharply shows how drastic the change is

I’d say that after almost six years, opinion has shifted. I’m honestly glad I wasn’t active in the fandom in 2013, because the earliest arguments are always the most vicious. Fans are often resistant to admitting the flaws of a hyped-up release (coughPhantomMenacecough). Nowadays, Sly 4 is still kind of an open wound, with people loving it or hating it or falling somewhere in between. 

But when I set up shop here and began complaining, no-one attacked me on a personal level. There was a few months of posts going up like “I wish people wouldn’t be so critical of Thieves in Time :///”, and considering the size of the fandom, I am 100% sure I’m the ‘people’ that caused those posts. And the idea I was treading on someone’s favourite game didn’t feel nice, but it wasn’t a direct confrontation. More defensive than offensive. 

And every time I criticize this game for its sexism, I get a chorus of agreement. 

Again, that ties in to what I’ve been saying lately about not wanting to leave Tumblr! Here I can say the basic, inarguable, true fact “Sly 4 does not treat its female characters well”, and responses range from “yes!!!!!!!!!!!” to “Well, that’s true, but…” There’s a basic level of agreement that, like, the bellydance scene and the Penelope twist etc were bad ideas

if i use the words “sexism” and “video games” in the same breath on twitter i will be shot on sight by the brave heroes of gamergate

Not gonna lie…..I might buy a Switch for the sole purpose of playing this game! That is how nostalgic I am for it....

The main reason I bought a Dreamcast all those years ago was for Grandia 2 (way ahead of the annoying later PS2 and PC ports ><)

Story Time: I met Joe Ruby and Ken Spears (Scooby's surviving creators) at WonderCon a few years ago. They had a meet-and-greet after their panel. And one gutsy fan asked them what they thought of Mystery Incorporated. They said they HATED it because “it doesn’t get the spirit of the series”! So now you know that Scooby's daddies feel the same way about MI as you do! :)

ah see i THOUGHT it was a bit suspicious that the "evidence" of them liking sdmi was very brief and unsourced AND from third or fourth parties

this probably means that, if they did say that series was closer to what they wanted to do at the beginning, they were speaking very factually and that doesn't mean they think going back to that point was a good idea. i'm really glad about that, actually; i would have been really sad to know that the sweet-spirited mainstream scooby universe wasn't what the creators wanted!

Hi. I'm still kinda new to tumblr. How do I go about submitting my Slayers fanart to your fine community?

Hello there~! I shall provide a few methods you can go about contributing your artwork to the amazing Slayers community. c:

1. You can upload the image as a photo post and add your own artist comment if you’d like. After that, tag it with “Slayers” and other related tags and hopefully they show up in the tag searches themselves! I’ve read it’s the first 5 tags that are publicly placed into the assigned tag searches ( like how searching “lina inverse” will lead you to posts tagged with #lina inverse ).

2. Post it on deviantart, or share a fan art you previously posted by going to the deviation and selecting the tumblr symbol in the share options. Do the same with the tagging as you would with choice #1. :D

3. If you want to submit to Slayers fan blogs directly, you can look for their submit boxes if they have any and upload/send the picture to them. However, if the blogs you want to submit to, or have share your fan art don’t have a submit box, you can simply ask them to look for your art piece through the ask box. Links don’t work too well in asks, but you can share your deviantart user or have them look through your blog for specific titles you gave your art piece.

eventually no ghosts and monsters even try running because fred can knock them out with his chin at fifty feet

locked in a room? fred breaks down the door with his chin

escape blocked by a high wall? fred grabs everyone and vaults up and over to safety with his chin

having a bbq? fred puts the plates of food on his chin to swing around and pass out to the gang without ever having to leave the grill

daphne forgot her eyeliner? fred'll just reach back to coolsville to fetch it in the fold of his chin no problem

need an extra gang member to confuse the crooks? put a little makeup and one of shaggy's spare shirts on fred's chin
