Pokemon GO banned in Bressolles

Get out of my city

Mayor Fabrice Beauvois is taking a stand against Pokemon GO in a big way. He wants the game out of his city completely!

Beauvois's city, Bressolles, is a city northeast of Lyons and his anger towards the game stems from Niantic. His reasoning states,

"the company didn't ask for permission before setting up shop. When a cafe or restaurant owner wants to open in a French town, they are obligated to ask the mayor first, Beauvois told the Associated Press. The same applies to Niantic even if they're settling in to the village's virtual space."  -- engadget

To be fair, Niantic and Nintendo do not have to ask any areas to release the game as it is just released as an app in the app store. If they had to do this for every city the roll out would take ages. There are some areas that Niantic should be sensitive to, like the Holocaust Museum situation, but those types of incidents can be targeted easier.

Bressolles bans Pokémon Go

The mayor of an 800-inhabitant village near Lyon, lost in the middle of the countryside with a river called the Merdanson, has just banned Pokémon Go. He cites the "distractions for walkers and drivers as they consult their phone”, the potential for “unruly groups of people forming in the late evening” and “dangerous addiction the app presents to the younger generations”.

There is obviously so little to do in Bressolles, that the mayor's only task is to make sure that his constituents are bored. Now if you’ll excuse him, he’s probably got to go to the pub right now - to drink something not distracting, smoke something not addictive and go home early without singing with his friends. (I bet not)

A présent, c’est la séquence, “jouons notre vieux con“. Qui ne s’est jamais retrouvé soudainement confronté physiquement à de jeunes abrutis dans la rue, le nez plongé dans leur smartphone,  qui ne semblent même plus ressentir la moindre prise avec la réalité, (et pas même la nécessité de s’excuser après m’avoir bousculé) ne peut pas comprendre… Sans parler de ces crétins qui font de même mais……
