#throwbackthursday Over the years I’ve had a number of projects which range from simple to complex. This one lands in the middle and was an interesting challenge because the client wanted to build a collection of illustrated assets which they could mix and match to use on various mediums (print, web, animation, etc.). After the initial kickoff call, I took to sketching to brainstorm how we could accomplish this with a landscape. The idea was to create a background of mountains and hills which would fade off into a single color (in this case, blue fog) and then layer different elements on top of that background. (Bob Ross actually used a similar technique and I’ve been using it in my own pieces thanks to him.) Everything you see was created in pieces and can be moved and shifted. This meant certain atmospheric effects I like to paint in couldn’t be used since assets would be moved and shifted depending on the layout the client needed. It was definitely a fun set to solve and I’m happy with the results and thankful for the opportunity. #process #illustration #landscapes #ocs #orlincultureshop #brianedwardmiller #thursdaythrowback #artofinstagram #shoptalk #trains #smalltown #outdoors #nature #wild #art #beauty #shotoftheday (at Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9WxotGA2Zg/?igshid=1x6iq8d6ki3bd
