ADDITIONALLY (if I may be so bold as trip l to suggest two of these) I would love to hear more about Briar and their pact marks! How do they feel about them, what was it like to get them, etcetcetc
Of course!! Ask as many as you want <3
How it felt:
Every brother had a different effect based both on the brother’s themselves and the emotions revolving around how the pacts were made. Some of them weren’t so instant, they developed over time as the brother’s took ahold of their soul and deepened their bonds.
Lucifer: his mark came fast and hard, like his lust. It was a lot like teeth sinking into their flesh. The pain would have brought them to their knees if he hadn’t already swept them up into his arms. Despite what he’d claimed about taking them he kept them company as their body adjusted and watched over them as they fell asleep.
Mammon: the mark showed up slowly and burned. It was their first ever pact and the first corruption of their soul, so it was pretty agonizing. It started with an itching sensation at the back of their neck. It increased over a period of a few days until it was nearly unbearable, and Briar had practically clawed their skin raw.
They didn’t know what was happening and ended up going to Solomon for lack of anything better to do (they didn’t trust Lucifer then and weren’t sure if it was somehow Mammon’s doing for blackmailing him). Solomon explained what was happening and said that it was basically a waiting game.
It hit its peak at night and had them paralyzed in pain. It was a lot like a tattoo except the needles were going into something deeper than skin and bone and something far more sensitive to every touch. Mammon was drawn to them through the growing bond and kept them company until it eased.
Leviathan: his mark was reluctant and prolonged. It was like someone slowly cutting each line into their skin over and over again with increasing pressure every time. They were familiar with the pain but couldn’t help collapsing when it got to its peak. Levi sat with them anxiously and explained monoke land to take their mind off of it.
Satan: his mark was swift with his willingness though it burned like fire. He was ready for it and brought them to his room to wait out the ease of the burn.
Asmodeus: Briar wasn’t prepared for his mark and it caught them by surprise where the others hadn’t. It felt like someone had reached into their chest and twisted their heart. Solomon steadied them when their body threatened to faint before they were able to breathe through it.
Beelzebub: a mix of a punch to the stomach and the worst cramps they’d ever felt; it was over quickly but left them nauseous. They nearly threw up their lunch while Beel fretted over them
Belphegor: a lot like how it felt when he swiped at them with his claws before they died the first time around; it was there and gone before numbness exploded into a white-hot pain that their body couldn’t entirely register. He held them in his arms until it eased and rubbed circles into their lower back when told it helped.
Bonus characters:
Simeon: an angel’s mark is the opposite of a demons. It radiated out a painful pleasure that Briar wasn’t entirely sure was better. Confused their corrupted soul and prolonged the process when his angelic nature collided with Briar’s own. They developed a fever and were comforted by Simeon’s cool touch until it eased.
Barbatos: a knife sliding between their ribs. They couldn’t breathe, it felt like they were suffocating. They passed out and woke up in his arms with a faint ache. He fed them tea and cookies until they could breathe easily again.
Diavolo: one of the worst pains of their life. Almost indescribable. Like burning alive and then being frozen over while their spine is ripped free from their skin and shattered. It takes them a day to wake up and a few more to stop feeling like they’ve got the worst burn across their back.
Solomon: the easiest. A swell of power akin to when he shared his own and awakened Briar’s in the process. Burns through their veins and settles in their lungs. It takes a few hours to stop every word from ripping through their throat.
How they feel:
Briar: It was scary at first, but I’m used to pain. These were moments I put myself through voluntarily and the gain far outweighed the loss. I’ve never been attached to my soul and I’ve always been convinced I was going to hell. Giving a piece of my soul to the ones I love wasn’t all that big a sacrifice. If it means that I get to stay by their side, then it’s worth it.
Luke was against it wholeheartedly, but I never really cared all that much about the repercussions. When you live most of your life thinking you’re either going to die or wishing you were dead it’s a relief to be able to decide your own fate and future once and for all.
I might still die but at least I’ll have died living instead of just surviving.
