What are some daily rituals you try to do every day? - however short and simple or long and complex they might be. I would love to hear them!
I’m trying to build my own daily and weekly rituals where I set aside time for my deities.. And I’m having trouble figuring out the “best” way to do so. Just looking to see what other’s experiences are like.
As a Brighid devotee, I thought I’d share how I’m spending Imbolg with my partner!
I’m personally celebrating the evening of January 31st through February 3rd! Most fire festivals were more than a one day event and I didn’t want to pack everything into 1 day anyways.
On January 31st, we put out our Brat Brídes, hanging white cloths on our door.
Then we candle painted! Using little tea lights, we painted with the hot wax onto some larger candles
I had my own flame tending shift so I finished that
Today, February First, we got all of our supplies for the day and went to the park to spend some time in nature while drinking our coffees. I found a dandelion to bring home for Brighid’s altar and also some rosemary!
Then we came home and started baking some bread, specifically Garlic Braided Bread and also made our own butter
We are preparing a bit of a feast, we got some apples and 3 different kinds of cheese (baking some brie!) to go with the bread along with some mashed potatoes.
Some bread and cheese will be offered to Brighid.
After we eat, we’re going to do some Imbolg divination spreads for the season ahead
Lastly for the night, we will make a Brighid’s doll (Brideog) and a Leaba Bhríde to put her in.
Tomorrow, February 2nd, we will be walking the bounds and grounds, doing some cleansing and cleaning and then some warding around our home.
Then we will be baking some Rosemary and Lemon Curd Tassies! (recipe below) We will offer one to Brighid as well.
On February 3rd, we will be meeting up with a friend to conclude our festivities
We’re going to go to a cemetery and commune with the spirits
Then we’re going to find some natural material for making Brighid’s Crosses and do them while we’re out!
Finally we’re going to go to a local plant store and buy a new houseplant, and plant our intentions for the season while potting it.
What’re you doing for Imbolg??
Nothing says Imbolc better than the bright yellows of lemon, butter, and egg yolks. So what happens when you infuse a sweet, zesty, creamy,
I Comissioned Another Piece of Jewlery for Brighid!
As yesterday, the ninth of July, marked twelve years of being in this rollercoaster ride of a relationship with Brighid, though I actually had a fairly calm and slow day happen yesterday, I ended up biting the bullet and did something I’ve been planning to do for a while now and comission a ring as an act of devotion for Brighid and the relationship I have with her.
So yeah, that’s what I did. I contacted the guy who crafted the Brighid’s Cross pendant I had commissioned here recently to have him make me a devotional ring for Brighid as well. The design he came up with in the end was a signet ring kind of design that will feature a Brighid’s cross similar to the one featured in the pendant he designed and crafted for me.
I asked Brighid what she thought about the outcome of the design and while she thought it was way over the top with how it’s going to end up looking like a signet ring of sorts, it still pleased her in the end. Hey, that’s all that matters in my book.
Anyone Know of any Good Irish or Gaelic Polytheist Discords?
I’m on Discord a lot these days, it’s not the place I’m most active at, but it is a place I’m fairly active on nonetheless. Anyway, I’m curious to know if anyone knows of any good Discord servors specific to Irish and/or Gaelic Polytheism, Brighid (I’m already a part of the Clann Bhride one, but I’m curious to see if there are any others too), or anything for the Fairy Faith floating about around out there?
Today I share a slightly lengthy video where I update everyone on what’s been going on behind the scenes the past little while, along with displaying and talking about a brand new devotional pendant that I had commissioned for Brighid. This lovely Brighid’s Cross pendant, the same I shared a picture of me wearing it recently, being the first piece of devotional jewlery I have worn for Brighid in years. I get a bit emotional in this video!
Got the word today that starting tomorrow I will be working from home for the next two weeks, which is honestly a load off.
Given that I will be at home, I’m hoping to be able to share some Brighidine content. I plan on taking this time to work on developing a more formal daily practice, and will also be doing something for the Spring Equinox. I will gladly share what I come up with.
Stay safe, y’all! And if feels the need to talk/share/whatever, feel free to reach out to me. This is rough, and we gotta stick together as best we can.
One of my biggest goals in 2020 is to actively create and engage in ritual for all four of the Gaelic fire festivals, and each solstice and equinox. While I have certainly done this in the past, this year will be different because all of the rituals will be for me (in the sense that I will be crafting solitary rituals as opposed to conducting larger, public rituals which is what I have been doing the last couple of years), and they will all be specifically Brighidine. This is part of a larger, overall goal to better define my practice.
If there is any interest, I might look into sharing parts of my journey here.
May the arms of Brighid embrace me,
For in her arms am I kept warm.
May the mantle of Brighid cover me,
For under her mantle am I safe from harm.
May the fires of Brighid strengthen me,
For in her fires am I reshaped and reborn.
May the waters of Brighid envelop me,
For in her waters am I healed and made whole.
