Tara’s Betrayal? A FUCKING MASTERPIECE
I actually really like how the yj writers plotted Tara’s betrayal everyone else who’s done it didn’t really make it make sense. In teen titans she was this unknown random girl from a fricking canyon that joined the team but sis ran off with Slade after beast boy revealed her ‘secret’ when it wasn’t that serious, mind you sis barely knew Slade in this continuity. The new 52 movies had her in love with Slade and she betrayed them for some old dick even tho she was like 14, and again in that continuity she was a nobody and she barely knew him. But yj, actually give you a foundation for her character and give you legitimate reasons for her betrayal, let me explain, they had Slade save her from the people who kidnapped her for metahuman trafficking, he trained her (it was borderline abuse but he told her he did it so she could be strong and no one would be able to kidnap her again so I mean can u blame her for just wanting him to be proud of her), he saved her when no one else did, and to add icing on the cake, he gave her that little counter chip so when Jace chipped her the chip would malfunction so she could debug Brion and escape. OF COURSE THE ONLY PERSON SHES REALLY GONNA TRUST IS SLADE HES THE ONLY PERSON WHO SEEMS TO TRULY CARE ABOUT HER IN HER EYES (I mean we know he’s just pulling strings with granny and them but I had a brief moment where I thought he actually did care to some extent bc he saw potential in her until they were having that conversation at the end) EVERYONE CAN SAY THEY CARE BUT NONE OF THEM ACTUALLY SAVED HER WHEN SHE NEEDED SAVING.
They made Tara a complex character and I love it.
And you know what would make this even better? A REDEMPTION ARC.
