Canada was partially home to all the British Loyalists who the filthy american revolutionaries wanted to kill. Yes, you heard me. I am not a fan of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and the American Founding Fathers. They would've taken Canada if they thought they could've. They were slavers and bigots and idiots who were angry about taxes (gee, i wonder where american tax hatred comes from?). Benedict Arnold is a real hero, because he at least switched sides. He didn't want to stay on the side of the people who were complete and utter idiots.

Yes, I know my opinion is biased. And yes, Canada has many flaws. But up here in Canada, we didn't have slavery. We had racist schools designed by the religious to destroy the natives, but we didn't have slavery. A lot of enslaved americans escaped up here. A lot of freedmen were resettled here after helping the British fight in the revolutionary war. We still have a long way to go, making reparations to the indigenous and aboriginal peoples, but at least our tv shows frequently now have land acknowledgements. We see indigenous people and inuit people leading on TV. When do you see that in america, hmm? You don't. America is a country founded on vile ideals hiding behind good words. They were all hypocrites.

I do not hate americans, by the way. I have a lot of followers and mutuals who're american. But there are times when my opinions slip out, and it looks like I hate americans. I don't. I hate america, not americans. Shockingly, there's a difference between those things. It's bizarre, but here we are. With me discussing how I want to spit on the graves of all the american revolutionaries. Funny how we got here.

Oh! This would explain my love for Rome, then! Because Canada was a British colony. And where do you think the American Monarchists and Loyalists fled after those awful "patriots" won their war? They came up here to Canada. I learned this online recently. The canadian history of anti-americanism extends to the beginning of the 1780s or so, when all the american loyalists fled either back to england or to what would eventually become canada.

From there, these loyalists would spread their opinions of the revolutionary war, helping to spread the view that america was a barbarous country of traitorous savages. Also, Canada was founded because the colonies of england were terrified that the US's stance on "manifest destiny" would lead to them annexing us. So this thing about Trump wanting to invade Canada isn't new for North American history.

I'm very much paraphrasing wikipedia pages i've read before, now. But either way, I am of the mind that i'd rather be tied to england than to america. England was bad in many, many, many ways (that is something I won't deny; the US had to have learnt the cruelty from somewhere, after all), but have you seen some of the USA's policies!? In a word: Andrew. Jackson. That freak says it all. Also: Slavery, Trail of Tears, Red Scares, Guns, Fear of Taxes, replacing a constitutional monarchy with a virtual oligarchy, etc. America is a disgrace of a nation. The people living there now are not the problem, but the history very much is.

Mary and Catherine Byles, unmarried daughters and heirs of the Rev. Dr. Mather Byles, Sr. They remained in Boston through the war and for many years afterward, but remained Loyalists to the end.

They refused to pay taxes on that property, in part because they would not acknowledge the authority of any government but Britain’s. I also recall reading that because the house had been the parsonage of their father’s meeting-house, it had never been taxed then. In any event, the sisters seem to have had very little money to pay their taxes anyway.

things that nobody will respond to/i'm desperate

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good literature on Loyalists in Philadelphia during the 1777-78 British occupation? Or even just during the American Revolution in general? Obscure first person accounts would make my life, but seriously, anything is helpful at this point!

Also, does anyone know the location of Franklin's essay on the Loyalist population in Philadelphia? Does it still exist somewhere, or have I been deceived?
