It's @marketflowers British Flower Week 2021! I love our native flowers, and so do our pollinators! Native flowers and native insects have evolved together, so to support the latter, it helps to keep some wildflowers in your garden! Thanks to their trumpet-shaped flowers, the three plants in my tall wildflower triptych are particularly good for bumblebees with long tongues, like the garden bumblebee, but they're not so handy for shorter-tongued species who can't reach the nectar, so it's super important to have a diverse range of flower shapes available throughout the season to support different types of pollinator. If you're lucky enough to have outdoor space and you want to find out more about growing for pollinators, look up the @bumblebeeconservationtrust's #BeeTheChange and try out their #BeeKind quiz to see how bee-friendly your garden is!
