London Queen, Charli XCX's new album, Sucker is far from sucking. With 90s-esque vibes that sound like the soundtrack to my weird, crazy, loveless life, Charli definitely brought back the girl power and kick-ass-I-can-now-take-on-the-day attitude. Her second major label album features 13 hits including, Break the Rules and Boom Clap, which has been featured in the movie The Fault In Our Stars. If you are a firm believer of girl power, love the 90s, and want to be in a great-happy-yet-badass mood this album is for you! Sneaking the album a listen at work, it's easy to say this is going to be my jam for the year.
Here's a breakdown of our top 3 favorite songs and which 90s-00s movie they belong in.
Sucker - This song is a very bad ass, fuck-you-sucker song. It has a very girl power, and fun uppy beat. We can definitely see this in a montage of Jawbreaker. Especially the part when Courtney is making up a story on the girl they killed.
Break the Rules - The title says it all. This is the anthem you would play when you want to do something rebellious like skipping school to go have a free day with your friends. This would be the opening credit song to the movie Sugar and Spice.
London Queen - FAVORITE. If Joan Jett, Madonna (okay like .5 of her), the Spice Girls and the Donnas morphed it would sound like this song. We could definitely see this in Clueless. I know there isn't a scene with any british characters or Cher visiting London etc, but the song just fits. Pretend this is the song Cher plays in her car when she's running stop signs on the way to school.
Other favorites: Breaking Up, Famous, Body of My Own, and Need Ur Luv.
Charli, you slayed queen, slayed.
