An arid bouquet for my Sandstorm fans! 🪨 (I’m glad someone said something to make me want to make this after all; desert flowers are cool!)
The desert is as foreign a place I’ve ever been, having lived along temperate / subtropical coastlines my whole life. I always thought it beautiful though, a cool place to visit (with some intense sun protection XD)
Speaking of, Sora doesn’t transform into a Rock-type in Sandstorm, but her Weather Ball does! So on go the Safety Goggles to keep her safe from the grit in the air. >u<
Just as the desert is strange to me, so too is Sandstorm - when I was thinking of whether or not to draw this, I sketched out a possible Sand team full of my favorite Rock, Ground, & Steel types. It was interesting! Meanwhile, I had fun learning about the desert flora in US arid regions (we can imagine these grow in Unova’s dusty Route 4 & Desert Resort). 🌵🌺
Sand Verbena - a flower endangered in some places, growing happily in dry, sandy soil.
Fairy Duster - a whimsical beauty that blooms around this time of year (definitely Lacey’s favorite flower, hehe)
Desert Chicory - also known as “plumeseed”, it’s as low maintenance a flower as you can get.
Hedgehog Cactus - one of many flowering cacti, one variety makes fruit that tastes like strawberries.
Brittlebush - a common sign of spring, its leaves start out greener, then progressively fades to white the hotter & drier it gets.
