The weather is rainy and foggy all along the railbelt on this Saturday in the Last Frontier, but for a few minutes it is still dry here just north of Broad Pass at MP 305.5 on the Alaska Railroad's mainline. The Denali Star is making the 45 MPH track speed here as it races through the blooming fireweed just shy of the highest point on the ARR mainline where the railroad crosses through a wide opening in the mighty Alaska Range.
