Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox on making their Broadway debuts in Betrayal.
Zawe: "I think what Harold Pinter does so brilliantly in the play is that, he doesn't judge anyone... what Harold is really concerned with is exploring the psyche of three people, without making anyone accountable or guilty. I think that's so rare with this kind of subject matter."
Tom: "I think these themes are never going to get old. I mean, this is as much as about isolation and loneliness as it is about betrayal. Every character is alone in some way."
Zawe: "There is a transference of energy between these three characters, that for me it feels so alive and so raw. And we rehearsed it in a way that was so spare, that actually there's no tricks. It's a bare stage, it's Harold's words, it's the three of us. There's two chairs, and a bit of melon at some point."
Tom: "This play was first written and performed in 1978. There have been so many productions of it since that time, and it will keep going because connecting to each other is what life is about.
