Kamloops, B.C. – The Kamloops Blazers announced their 2019-20 leadership group on Friday, September 20th in their home opener against the Spokane Chiefs.
Zane Franklin has been named the team captain with Brodi Stuart, Connor Zary, Ryley Appelt and Montana Onyebuchi as assistant captains.
Franklin is in his 20-year-old season and was acquired by the Blazers during the summer of 2018. The Marwayne, Alta. product led the Blazers in scoring during the 2018-19 Western Hockey League Regular Season with 68 points (28G-40A) in 68 games.
Stuart is in his third season with the Blazers. The 19-year-old from Langley, B.C. notched 38 points (20G-18A) in 68 games last season and has played 144 games with Kamloops.
Zary is also in his third season with the Blazers. The 18-year-old was second on the team in scoring last season, earning 67 points (24G- 43A). The Saskatoon, Sask. product is also a 2020 NHL Draft prospect.
Appelt is in his third season with the Blazers and recorded 10 points (5G-5A) in 54 games last season with the club. The 19-year-old from Edmonton, Alta. was originally selected by the Blazers in the fourth round, 81st overall, in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
Onyebuchi was acquired by the Blazers in January 2018 from the Everett Silvertips. The 19-year-old defenceman collected 20 points (5G-15A) last season in 66 regular-season games. Hailing from Dugald, Man., Onyebuchi has played 178 career games between Everett and Kamloops and is in his fourth season in the WHL.

Kamloops Blazers F Brodi Stuart has been suspended one (1) game under supplemental discipline versus Victoria on March 26. Stuart is eligible to return for Game 5 of their playoff series against the Victoria Royals on March 30.
Seattle Thunderbirds D Cade McNelly has been suspended two (2) games under supplemental discipline and repeat offender versus Vancouver on March 26. Mcnelly is eligible to return for for Game 6 of their playoff series against the Vancouver Giants on March 30.
