POV: u go on a date with diamant ❤️ for @/schereas ✨
We're given the okay to upload our Fire Emblem Engage tarot card pieces for Emblem of the Arcana!
First off I was tasked to draw Saphir, Queen of Swords!
Alcryst / Celine
i may have a favourite kingdom.
While Alcryst is one of my favorite characters and unit from Brodia, Yunaka is my favorite character from that region overall. Yunaka was my second, now third, favorite character in the entire game.
If you ask me, Yunaka embodies one of the core aspects of this game’s themes; redemption and accountability. Something I think other characters have also shown to be able to do more than most other Fire Emblem games. Other characters like that include Ivy, Mauvier, Veyle and Rafal.
We meet Yunaka in chapter 6 who seemingly just a funny girl with poor jokes that are memetic and cringeworthy. However, as the chapter goes on, we start to see more of Yunaka’s character behind her mask. When Alear chooses to entrust the Ring of the Dawn Maiden to Yunaka, she’s hesitant about it.
It’s later revealed that she was trying to sell the ring for money. The only reason why she didn’t is because she dropped it after being ambushed by bandits. However, Alfred points out that Yunaka could have run off with the Ring after she got it.
So as “punishment” for stealing the ring, or at least intending to, Yunaka is to join our heroes in the fight against Sombron. Even if she was expecting worse, Yunaka agrees. Coincidentally, Veyle just happens to appear and bond with Alear not long after Yunaka was introduced.
Yunaka’s is one of the most harden characters in the party because of her true background as an assassin. Her true name is Larimar, like with the other natives of Brodia is named after a mineral, the blue stones of the Dominican Republic. Citrinne, Alcryst’s retainer, knows this and let’s just say they get off on the wrong foot for it.
I feel this understating things a bit, but this support is the most important support to know her character for. This is also my second favorite support in the entire game. And it explains why she is the way she is.
Yunaka wants to leave her past behind and this is the masks that she puts on. And she bonds with people faster when someone isn’t defining her for that mask. This includes Alfred, because he has his own truth to hide.
As an assassin, she takes fighting seriously, which is what she calls Merrin out for. She bonds with a fellow quirky assassin in Zelkov. And Louis just comforts her over her problems. Yunaka has great chemistry with everyone she supports.
But the special mentions are Seadall and Alear. If not for this shot of the ending credits with Seadall and Yunaka. If not for this and for their support, I would have given the Pact Ring to her. I personally think being a performer is the perfect ending for her.
As stated before; Yunaka was, and still is one of my favorite characters in Engage as a non main character unit that embodies the themes of this game. In addition being a great unit, with great supports all around.
Citrinne!!
One shot queen.
