After a cursory check for traps, Coll steps up next to the far door to read the plaque on it. The flagstone rocks and a dart shoots out of the wall and hits him for 3 dmg. Coll sweats a bit from poison on the dart.
The door says:
HERE RESTS BROGAR UNDER THE EARTH // A GRANDFATHER, A WARRIOR, AND A GREAT MAN // IF YOU ARE TEMPTED BY HIS TREASURE’S WORTH // COME TAKE IT FROM HIS COLD DEAD HANDS.
Mildred attempts to recreate the movements of the creatures in the room from their footprints, but can't puzzle it out. Ceridwen manages to work out that at least one of the creatures can change shapes very rapidly, and also that it seems that some of these might have been faked, as one of the creatures seems to have two identical left feet. It seem to Coll that someone was told to do this, but half-assed it.
Mildred tells Coll to step off the trap, she'll try to hold it down so it doesn't reset. Mildred casts Mage Hand and Coll starts to step off, but the tile starts to rock up anyway, so he steps back on before it can pop back up.
Ceridwen, in her gecko shape, crawls up on the ceiling, and gets ready to crawl through the top of the doorway. Mildred casts Mage Armor on herself. The party decides the order they'll walk in in.
Coll crouches down and opens the door.
The octogonal crate room: an 80-foot octagon with a pit in the far right corner. Chains hang from the ceiling, and there's barricades set up. The party can see several kobolds scattered around the room.
Snow runs in, tries to jump the first barricade, but gets caught in the barricade. Furious, she hurls a javelin at one of the kobolds next to the fire, and it dies screaming. She then steps aside to let the party through.
A stone whips through the air and smacks into the side of Snow's head, for 3 damage. The stone came from out of the shadows off to the right.
When Lenora comes in, her darkvision gives her a superior view of the room, showing her clearly where the two kobolds off to the right are. She moves up closer to them, but after a few steps a net drops from the ceiling, restraining her.
Noz skips over Coll into the octagonal room, her hair aglow with magical light, and fires off a flurry of Magic Missles at the kobolds, dropping another one of the kobolds next to the fire.
One of the kobolds flicks a rock from his sling at Lenora, but it glances off the net she's wrapped in. The other one aims his sling-stone at Noz, and hits her for 6 damage, then retreats back into the far end of the room.
Rak clambers over Coll and squeezes past Noz into the room, then shoots off an Eldritch Blast at the kobold on the stairs, killing it and knocking its corpse off the stairs.
Mildred moves up and shoots a Fire Bolt off at kobold hiding in the dark at the far end of the room, and he screams, his leathers and fur still alight.
Coll runs in and uses his polearm to help jump over the barricade, moves into cover, and readies his crossbow. Ceridwen crawls through the top of the doorway, and climbs around the walls of the room, and then down to the ground.
Snow moves off towards the remaining kobold on the right, and throws a javelin at it, killing him dead. Lenora frees herself from the net, and moves towards the center of the room.
Noz moves next to the Ceridwen and a weighted bag drops on her, restraining her. She casts a Fire Bolt at the already-lit kobold at the top of the stairs. He collapses, and rolls down the stairs.
Snow goes to reclaim her javelins. Lenora moves to investigate the pit. There's a mural of a warrior in the pit staring out over a landscape, underneath a torch. The same warrior, apparrently Brogar, is featured on the murals around the rest of the room, performing the feats ascribed to him. The Brogar in the pit looks older and more melancholy.
Wary of traps, Lenora drops over the edge of the pit down to the bottom few steps. She looks around for traps, and, seeing nothing, and climbs down next to the spikes. She can now see the spear racks on the back wall, where someone has chipped into the floor to give the spear butts somewhere to sit.
Ceridwen moves to examine the machine. It's a large diameter metallic drum with metal spikes sticking out of it, latched in place and chained to the ceiling. It looks like, if triggered, it'd roll off to the west and slam into the door.

The amazing Ring of Brodgar, Orkney Islands (Scotland). The Ring of Brodgar (or Brogar, or Ring o' Brodgar) is a Neolithic henge and stone circle on the Mainland, the largest island in Orkney, Scotland. The ring of stones stands on a small isthmus between the Lochs of Stenness and Harray. This is the northernmost example of a circle henge in Britain. It is thought to have been erected between 2500 BC and 2000 BC, and was, therefore, the last of the great Neolithic monuments built on the Ness. The stone circle is 104 metres in diameter (the third largest in the British Isles). The ring originally comprised 60 stones, of which only 27 remained standing. The stones are set within a circular ditch up to 3 metres deep, 9 metres wide and 380 metres in circumference that was carved out of the solid sandstone bedrock by the ancient residents. Examination of the immediate environs reveals a concentration of ancient sites, making a significant ritual landscape. Although its exact purpose is not known, the proximity of the Standing Stones of Stenness and its Maeshowe tomb make the Ring of Brodgar a site of major importance. The site has been recognized as part of the "Heart of Neolithic Orkney" World Heritage Site in 1999.

The Ring of Brodgar (or Brogar) is a Neolithic henge and stone circle in Orkney (Scotland), it was constructed around 2500 BC, and therefore broadly contemporary with Stonehenge and many other ancient sites in the British Isles and Europe.
