Why does that one quote about breaking your ankle in a cave make me so emotional and also feel EXTREME gender envy. That one. I'll see if I can find it again but you know the one right

Oh yeah in case you didn't know uh Hallows' backstory just gets darker from here and I'm gonna tag everything I can think of that's applicable just in case you wanna filter it out but yeah. Just another warning for anyone that's not familiar with her lore.
Okay I know I keep flip-flopping between the themes of Adeline and Farenix's art so I'll give a tiny lil' rundown of their timeline so far so it's less confusing. I'll probably go further into detail later, but here's the basics:
Adeline was abandoned as a baby and one of Lord Marlevaur's royal guards found her and brought her to stay in his quarters with him until he could find someone more qualified to take care of her
It wasn't long before Lord Marlevaur heard of it, and, taking a liking to the child, decided to take her under his (literal) wing and raise her alongside the rest of his guard as their protege. They always phrased it as him simply being her mentor and that they would have a scholar-student relationship, but over the years they did start to see each other as a parental/child figure in their lives, though still keeping their public appearances strictly professional.
Adeline quickly rose in the ranks of the guard as she was trained, and by the time she turned 150 she was promoted to head of Marlevaur's royal guard, and by the time she had turned 200 she was once again promoted to being Marlevaur's personal bodyguard and the one he could entrust with carrying out special missions for him and his "organization" that he and a few fellow nobles were in. (He never spoke about what exactly that organization was, though.)
Eventually, Marlevaur offered to let her join said organization, and all to happy to please her mentor, agreed.
She soon found out, however, that this organization was dedicated to finding the secret of eternal life- aka. they were all working to become Liches. As an initiation, they required that Adeline showed her understanding of the consequences of eternal life (that being that she will outlive everyone else she cares about) by murdering an imprisoned commoner, whose wings were plucked and broken so they could not escape via flight.
Adeline managed to convince Marlevaur to postpone her initiation until the next evening, using religious reasons as an excuse, explaining that she wanted to "purify" her mind and soul before going through with this so that she does not bring evil deeds of the past with her into their organization and will be able to only focus on what amazing things she will be able to do in the future with the gift they're offering her.
When she was released for the night she did in fact Not Do That. Instead she dug through Marlevaur's library until she found a book on summoning demons, and took it back to her bedroom.
There's where she met Farenix, the Incubus. She made a deal with him that if he could charm and distract Marlevaur for long enough for her to kill him and expose his treachery to the townsfolk, she would let Farenix kill her in return.
The plan went fine at first, but as she went to make the killing blow another guard rushed in and knocked her out of the way, and she only managed to strike one side of Marlevaur's face- and subsequently ended the charm spell that Farenix had put him under.
Adeline, knowing she had no chance of winning against the entire rest of the guard, instead ran to where the prisoners she was supposed to murder were held, and helped them escape before she could be captured, and snuck out through one of the secret tunnels only she had been permitted to knowing the locations of.
When they got out of the castle Adeline announced to the townsfolk the atrocities had been committing, and with sold proof on her part, the town stood by her side and drove Marlevaur and the other members of their organization out of the city- though not without Adeline getting some near-fatal injuries in the process.
Adeline was hailed as a hero for putting a supposed end to their reign, and arrangements were made for Adeline and Farenix to be taken care of in another town while she recovered from the ordeal, in case Marlevaur tried to come back for revenge.
Farenix was rather smitten with Adeline at this point, as he had never met a mortal quite like her before. He stayed by her side throughout her recovery, making the excuse that since they didn't kill Marlevaur, he hadn't completed his end of their bargain.
After Adeline had healed and they had been on the run from the guards still loyal to Marlevaur for some time, the two had bonded and got a house together, later got married, and eventually settled down and had a baby together, named Cyrix. They were happy to live a domestic life together after what they had been through.
Their peace didn't last long however, as some years later those still loyal to Marlevaur tracked her down and attacked them; they managed to make it out with their lives, but were unfortunately on the run once more.
And that's basically where I'm leaving their story so far! I'm probably gonna use her as a backup character for if my current D&D character, TAK, dies, so I'm only gonna make content about stuff that's happened in her backstory so far so I can still expand on it if I get to use her in a campaign! But yeah that's basically it!
