The more the merrier

“This is too far north for my liking”
“Hm, but it’s good coin nonetheless,” Kahen retorted to his sister, keeping a serious face. Too close to Rivain, but it would be a short job. A minor merchant, though still wealthy, had been desperate to protect their lands from the sudden apparition of beastly creatures after a landslide somewhere near: from the description giving by people willing to answer (or too intimidated by the horned siblings to refuse), might as well be darkspawn. Not many mercenaries took jobs involving the blighted creatures, but with Kash coming along they had fire, and that would be an effective and convenient way to get rid of them.
They left the horses behind, of course: they’d only get frightened, and they needed them to travel back to the southern Antivan cities later so they couldn’t have them fleeing. Better walk the rest of the way, as they were doing now.
“You brought enough potions, I hope. We can’t have you running out of mana here,” the man said, not even looking back as Kashaadi followed.
“Enough to light up a fortress, my dear brother. Don’t worry about it. Now, focus on the path ahead, would you? According to your map, we should be close now.”
