To say that The Agent had been apprehensive about the current assignment that he was on would have likely been considered the biggest understatement of his life. He still felt that anyone else would have been better suited to travel to the Morning Star’s domain but the ‘gift’ that was now tucked in the bag at his side clearly showing that The Author had other ideas. This couldn’t be another test though, there were too many other things at stake at this point between Heaven and Hell for The Author to try and mess with his head and emotions again... wasn't there?

As he walked off of the elevator and looked around he was immediately aware as the ash and sulfur in the air burned his nostrils and throat. He was almost immediately on high alert for any potential threat that could exist at this point and since he was the one chosen to be there, he had good reason to be. He wandered the pathway that almost immediately seemed laid out for him, like his arrival had not only been known but eagerly expected. He had noticed a few people out in the area but they didn’t seem to pay him much mind as he drew closer and closer to what looked like a large run down barn structure.

The current silence only managed to unnerve him more since he’d been more than aware of the racket that Hell had liked to cause to those above but all of that revelry seemed to have suddenly disappeared. As he got to the doors of the barn he stopped short as he saw a lone figure inside with their back to him and he felt his heart leap into his throat. There was no mistaking it, he knew that it was her, even still in the same dress that she had been cast out in. “June?” He couldn’t help the smile that spread on his lips as he quickly walked over to her, a wave of relief washing over him. That relief faded a little however as she didn’t acknowledge him, he of course wasn’t sure what he’d expected after that night but still he asked again as he got closer, perhaps considering that it was his imagination running wild. “June?”

Dance with me? || Modern AU Halloween || closed w/ brokenheartandabrokenface

Halloween had always been Michael’s favorite time of year if only because it meant the annual Halloween party at work. It was the time of year where he had to work but he could still have some fun. He was dressed in some of his best clothes, a blue dress shirt, his black vest, black pants and his red converse. His proudest accomplishment though was the bronze painted mask that he had put together. It had taken him nearly the whole month but it was perfect.

He walked into the building as he arrived, placing on his mask as he walked inside, tieing it as he smoothed back his hair back. He smiled a little and walked around, grabbing a glass of champagne as the server walked passed him and took a drink.

ModernVerse!Michael || Closed w/ brokenheartandabrokenface

Michael had finally been able to supposedly get an evening off from work but by this point, he knew that it was likely to get cut short. It always did but he was grateful for what he got, to him out of the office was out of the office. He figured that while he could he’d grab some stuff that he needed for his loft... mostly liquor, a lot of liquor and coffee. He had to laugh a little, he usually intended for the liquor he bought to be for him, but it usually ended up being a quick gift for visiting businessmen. He thought a moment then shook his head, knowing that Pascal still had more than enough in the way of food and treats. He turned the corner and nearly ran smack into someone, “Oh heck, I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you there.”

June's fingers ran along the bars of Arganan's cell where he was kept, having been forcibly put there by Scorpion since Arganan had tried to fight him. She cocked her head as she watched him, having been much gentler with him since he had slowly begun to submit to his fate and actually gain a sort of affection for Doll. "Arganan..." She sang his name with soft tune, her mismatched eyes watching him closely.

Arganan whimpered as looked up from his position on the floor of the cage, having been curled up on his side. He flinched as he heard her call his name.

She was here. That couldn’t mean anything good. Could it?

“Wh-what do you want..?” He whispered, shutting his good eye, and then opening it up again. His eye widened as he gazed up at her, too fearful to make a move towards her.

But part of him wanted to go to her, as much as it scared him. Maybe she had a treat for him. But what if she hurt him again? He was still terrified.

So terrified.

Ten: Our muses hug one another

Arganan never thought he’d come to this stage with the Painted Doll, especially after all she’d done to him. She was the one that killed Dagran in front of his eyes—broke his neck and beat him to death.

She’d kept him in a cage since, fed him on a rare occasion with leftover carnival sweets and treats. Beat him, kissed him, kept him locked up.

And now this.

He didn’t understand her hugging him through the bars of the cage, but he found himself embracing her in return, shivering and sobbing softly as he burrowed himself against her as well as he could, desperate to find some comforting warmth from the same person who’d destroyed the love of his life and kept him locked up in this place.

“I-I’m scared.”

He winced at how hoarse he sounded. He’d last used his voice for the screams of pain that occurred during his previous. That was probably why he felt so weak, now.

This was Hell after all, and he didn’t expect it to be merciful.

She was expecting him to ignore her much like he had done then rather than addressing her. Since she had stepped out of the shadows, he was now able to see her face and what the Translators had done to it. She was broken and cracked yet he was still as beautiful and handsome as she remembered. "The big man send you to do his dirty work, I'm assuming? Or is this a pity visit for little ol' me?" She asked with fake sweetness in her words despite anger and bitterness for him clear on her face.

He glanced at her and slowly walked up to her, his eyes going wide as he seen the cracks on her skin, not having noticed them initially. It was unsettling for him to see what his actions all that time ago had caused. He couldn’t bare to stay and watch as The Translators started in on June but it was no easier to see right then. In some senses he was just glad to know that she was alive, considering he had no idea what her fate would have been as an outcast in hell. He reached out one of his hands to touch the cracks on her face but then hesitated. “I need to speak with him...” He knew that she knew who he was referring to, he just wanted this to be a simple in and out arrangement, but having already run into June was seeming to show that it wasn’t going to be that easy.
