I hate it when fans say "I've been abused so I know john was abusive." okay, that doesn't mean anything! I've been abused too and I never saw John as abusive. Ever. I thought he was a good father and a good man. Stop using your own feelings and angst to ignore canon and make him the villain. Thank you. - Gwen
The argument “I’ve been abused, so I know John was abusive” is an anecdotal argument that aims to appeal to a reader’s emotions without actually providing proof; which they can’t because the show outright says John wasn’t abusive.
We’re meant to feel sorry for the person and feel guilty for defending John because of something that happened to them. Most people who use that argument usually state “I don’t want you to feel sorry for me” at some point but then continue to accuse people of being apologists when they’re not automatically agreed with.
Just because something bad happened to a person doesn’t mean they’re automatically right when they accuse someone/something else of doing similar.
The ironic thing about all of this is that many John Haters accuse John of abuse, yet they woobify Crowley (you know, the character that has blatant canon proof that he abused his son) and treat him like an angel.

REMINDER: We currently have a John Winchester-friendly bloglist that is slowly getting bigger and bigger, so if you aren't a part of it yet and wish to be listed make sure to send in a request!
On a related note, the list is now long enough to justify it being alphabetized. This has been done and will be maintained from here-on-out.
Between our bloglist and separate tags for different entries/posts, we don't have the much going on here on our community blog. While it's understandable since we're only a small part of the Supernatural Fandom, it still seems a little bit lacking. If there is ANYTHING that you would like to see done to the blog, whether it be a different way of organizing our lists or a completely new aspect to add on, please don't hesitate to send in an ask or submission detailing your request.
This is a John Winchester Fan community blog. We aim to cater to the fans who appreciate John Winchester.
Final Thoughts of John Winchester
This is literally one of my favorite blogs. It's hard (at least for me) to find people who like, and let alone stand up for John Winchester. So, thank you for all of this because it's brilliant.
You’re welcome!
We’re all glad that you were able to find us. We John Winchester Fans are few and far between, it seems, and it’s always difficult to find others. A few of us here on Fans of Letters didn’t find each other for a while. But we’re congregating and working together to help clear the tag of hate.
We hope you’ll participate! :D
