Here at johnwinchesterfans, the current admins are getting busier and busier with life outside of fandom. While we want to continue to do things within the Supernatural fandom, we’d greatly appreciate it if some fellow John Fans would join us in running the blog on a day-to-day basis.

The position is for Member-level access, so certain things would not be accessible. However, you’d be able to make posts, re-blog posts from other blogs, and interact with the fandom in general.

So, I’m sure that y'all have been seeing the post about Tumblr removing Nsfw content on the 17th.

Obviously this blog isn’t nsfw, but my main blog is and I’m a little worried that it might end up getting deleted or banned or something (even though fan fiction “should be safe”). Come Friday I will make a post about other social media that I use, and I recommend people doing the same asap.

I’m going to also buy a key for Pillowfort.io when I can.

Forgive the incoming babbling.

I just realized that we never actually saw the fight between Sam and John. We saw the immediate aftermath in Dark Side of the Moon, when Sam and Dean were in heaven, but not the fight itself. Before anything else, I’m going to tell you that I support John Winchester. I don’t accept the twisted characterization that was introduced after his death for the Daddy Issues™ trope. The first few seasons said differently.

With that, I’m going to introduce a thought I had. We know that they were at each other’s throats, probably yelling or screaming. Maybe on the verge of getting physical. But aside from “get out and don’t come back”, we don’t know the conversation that was had.

What if Sam said, “I don’t want this life”?

What if “Get out and don’t come back” was John’s answer to that?

What if that was John’s way of saying: “Take this opportunity. I don’t want this life for you either. Take it and go. Get away from it. Don’t come back because you’ll never get away again.”

Sam thought that John hated him for leaving, but John probably desperately hoped that if Sam left hunting, he wouldn’t have to face the demon blood. It’s canon that John was proud of him, and bragged to his friends about his kid getting into college. Into Stanford!

It’s canon that John went to Stanford to check on Sam and make sure he was safe and happy. John didn’t say go and don’t come back because he was angry that Sam wanted to leave. He said it because he wanted Sam to have the life that hunting couldn’t give him.

I’m not as invested in Supernatural as I used to be, but I will never believe that John was hateful, abusive, or neglectful.

John Winchester appreciation

John is forty-seven and more tired than ever, when he sits in the now empty motel room, his shoulders hunched, bearing the weight of a lifetime. His face weary after almost two decades on the road and never ending sorrow. Already sorry that he wasn’t able to find the right words, blaming the whiskey on the surface, but deep down he knows that Sam’s departure is on him.                      Will always regret, that he could never express how the part of him, that hasn’t completely succumbed yet to his grief and insane need to hunt the demon down – was proud of Sammy and how he was secretly glad that Sam got out of this life – for the moment being at least. Hopes that he would be safe on campus, even though he’s scared this won’t last forever, that Sam got a target sign on his back. He knows that Sam always thought he was against his education, against sending him to college, that he encouraged Dean to drop out of high school, and he knows he should have done better, and oh god, does he feel despair that he never was able to express all these things. Sam doesn’t know that he had a college fund for him, that the reason for throwing a tantrum earlier was not really college itself – but rather that he was afraid, so afraid that he won’t be able to protect Sam anymore when he is so many miles away. Not with the damned demon still lurking out there, yellow eyes fixed on Sam.

Now John regrets how his words didn’t find their way out of his mouth. How he couldn’t say how much he loves his boys. He barely registers it when Dean comes back, battling to keep his despair hidden, but his face revealing him regardless.                                                                                                     Can only numbly watch, how Dean downs the entire bottle of cheap whiskey. Doesn’t find the energy to prevent his first born son from destroying himself, even though a thin, concerned voice in the back of his mind – the part he usually keeps hidden behind walls – reminds him that Dean is only twenty-two. Too young to rely this heavy on booze. So young and already too far gone.

But how could he, of all people, talk him out of this when alcohol is the very same way he copes?

He knows why Dean goes for whiskey now.

Heartbreak.

Y'all, this isn’t exactly John related, but it’s something we have a lot of experience with so I need to speak up.

So many of us have witnessed our fellow fans doxxed and chased off this site because of the abuse they were receiving from the John Haters in the fandom. So many of us have had to protect each other from harassment because others have valued their opinions of a fictional character over us, actual human beings. Well, one of our fellow SPN fans has been dealing with far worse than us for much longer. To the point that she’s doubting her right to defend herself from such abuse. We get called abuse apologists for liking a fictional character. She is dealing with REAL abuse apologists who are equating her self defense with bullying because they’re “annoyed” that she’s not just continuing to take the abuse.

Please. Show support to a fellow SPN Fan. @eliciadonze does not deserve the abuse she is getting. She needs the love and adoration she deserves for being such a fantastic artist. Right now, no one in this fandom has earned civility from her because of what she’s gone through. However, I know we John Fans can show her that we refuse to stand by as she receives abuse from others. And all we can do is show her because she has no reason to believe us if we only tell her. She may or may not be a John Fan, but she’s still one of us and she needs us.

Please. Don’t let what happened to so many of our fellow Fans happen to her. She doesn’t deserve it.
