From the Things to Love About Brooklyn Department: GREEN-WOOD CEMETERY Went on a walking tour of one of the most beautiful places in NYC last weekend. (Here’s our tour guide in front of the fabulous Egypto-Christian mashup that is the Van Ness – Parsons mausoleum.) Throughout the pandemic, I’ve taken many a hike through Green-Wood, from glorious spring days exploding with psychedelically bright blossoms to literal blizzards that stung my eyes, and every visit was good for the soul. (Mine, anyway— can’t speak for those I was treading over.) It’s peaceful, it’s hilly, it’s woodsy, it’s clean. It’s loaded with birds, including the best parrot colony I’ve seen since Telegraph Hill in San Francisco. It’s one of the great good places of New York. Do yourself a solid and check it out.
