A whole city of people in exchange for the life of the woman that has raised him. Gwen was among those saved and among those that would have PERISHED had he acted on his selfish instincts regarding the cure. He’d been sitting by her bed for some time, finding nowhere else to go in the moment and honestly glad to be away from everyone else. But her voice was enough to draw dark eyes away from the floor he had been staring at, memorizing the tiles of the hospital, and straight to the blonde in the bed. Almost immediately, he was sitting up from the seat that he had pushed directly beside her bed. Focusing on Gwen, IGNORING everything else around him.
❝ Hey—— ❞ His voice was soft, barely there but just enough for her to hear. Hardly the positive one he had been in the lab, the one that was always so EAGER for developments. But among the other citizens, at least he had managed to save ONE person that he cared about. Maybe not Li, not Otto, not Officer Davis, not Aunt May—— But at least Gwen would survive and, knowing her, would THRIVE.
