Please take a look at this mesmerizing video by Issey Miyake. It's such a great thing to view and gives us a close up to the process of weaving. Such beauty
I was very excited to finally have our first Open Studio gathering with our BWG member, Lisa (right) and Weaving Hand Intern Jade (center). We decided to have a tapestry day and worked on Harrisville Design Lap Looms, I had a simple frame loom. The ladies inspired me, Katherine (left) to begin a mini tapestry of a house... a pink house and they're experimenting using different colors of yarns and fun techniques. Stay tuned for images of our works in progress. For more information on how to join the guild click here . It'll be worth it!
We're very excited to have our very first Brooklyn Weavers' Guild meeting this Saturday, October 4 from 12-4pm at the Weaving Hand Studio!
*You can choose to start your weaving on a pre-dressed loom or create a warp and dress your own loom using the allotted BWG weaving materials!
We had such a great time at the Weaving Hand studio September 18, hosting the wonderful creator, Celina Paiz of La Selva. We loved hearing about how she came to own the vintage handwoven Guatemalan fabrics and how she uses the inspiration derived from these fabrics to create one of a kind designs.
thank you to those who joined us for that lovely presentation and to Celina for making her presentation. We look forward to seeing you at our next presentation featuring artist, Philip Stearns
