Did Laura literally get actual death threats because of broomgate? I mean, I realized it was pretty bad at the time, just didn't think it was THAT bad.

I looked it up again to be sure it was actually not over the flying broom thing but about her The Last of Us Part II character WHILE broomgate was happening. I remember it being talked about in correlation to it back in 2015/2016 (I think maybe on early Talks Machina or when they still hung out after the stream. I don’t know if she got death threats for both, but those two things were happening at the same time which would explain why at least I thought that she was getting them over it at the time it happened. (I’ve also seen other people talk about it since like she got threats over broomgate since then) and just hadnt triple checked until today. It was a REALLY bad scene for her at that point overall and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was overlap considering the environment on Twitter at the time. Assholes love to dogpile in situations like that :/

While we're on the subject of controversial CR stuff I have never cared about Vex stealing the broom and she felt as bad as I would have wanted which was slightly lol. It's absolutely insane how mad people got

And also Vax was completely right to try to scare off Kynan. They were getting into high levels and fighting extremely dangerous enemies. I also think it's stupid that they healed him & Vax had a natural 20 persuasion check on not demoralizing him but Matt still made him join Ripley anyway

Not A Book Friday

I did not have a podcast about Curling on my bingo card for 2024. I mean, I know about as much about Curling as the average American, which is almost nothing. So, I learned a ton listening to this podcast. And then, even more, since, the podcast was all about some special brooms (that the players use to smooth the ice before the round rock thing) that had the whole sport alternatively loving them or freaking out about them. Definitely worth a listen, whether you love Curling, or have only just barely heard about it every four years.

Ok the Broomgate podcast is excellent. You don't have to know anything about curling or care about it at all. 10/10 sports drama.

Okay I have gotten to episode forty-six, aka Broomgate, and it is probably a controversial opinion, but of all the torturous things that Vox Machina has done, stealing a broom seems a bit much to force an alignment change.
