no, i do not think willis todd was a good man
no, i do not think he's a knock-off batman vigilante that worked with his kid for a while
yes, maybe i can accept that he tried to be a good father at first but was later dealt a shitty hand
even if that were the case, no, i do not think he is a sympathetic character or a good person, much less a good father
maybe jason's memories of willis are ~worse than it actually was (which, ughghghghhh i already hate bc FUCK YOU abused kids don't actually like to make up horrific shit about their own family), but there is no doubt in my mind that at the very least willis todd was a very neglectful father, if not outright abusive to his family
not only was it not necessary to do All That, but it makes jason an incredible hypocrite to how he operates as both a criminal and vigilante
sure, maybe there's something to explore about the complex relationship he now has with willis, but 1) lobdell did that 0 justice bc willis never revealed himself to jason and 2) jason already has a lot of That with bruce
