Is there any trope quite like Person A, who has not been touched (at least kindly) in a very long time, and Person B reaching out and touching their face?
Some different ways this trope can play out:
Romantic
Platonic
Familial
Person B has no idea of the effect they're having on Person A
Person B is fully aware of what a big deal this is, hardly daring to breathe
It's a deliberate moment of tenderness, reaching out simply to touch
It's a casual moment, absently wiping a crumb from A's face
It's out of necessity; something has gone wrong, and now B has to patch A up
A is so overwhelmed they cannot even blink
A is so overwhelmed their eyes fall shut
Two characters discover they have the same favourite TV show, so they try and watch it together. This ends up being a total disaster, because one of them reacts a lot and likes to comment on everything and predict what's coming, while the other one likes to stare at the TV in silence and gets annoyed when people interrupt.
Person C: So, are you and [Person B] just friends or what?
Person A: Well, don't tell anyone, but we're more than that.
Person C: Oh, really?
Person A: Yeah, we're best friends.
