Process work of the giant cardboard Granny O’Grimm head I made for Brown Bag Film’s 25th Anniversary!

For this, I started with a large cardboard box and card structure pieces to support her nose and hair. I ended up using a further 5 boxes to free sculpt the nose, ears and chin and a giant lawnmower box for the hair. I used hot glue and strong hold duct tape to combine the pieces together. Completely fun and well worth the pricks from my scalpel. Painting her took about 4 liters of acrylic paint in a rainbow of colours. I achieved the flesh tone through a variety of pinks, oranges and reds and used several sponges to dapple the freckles and liver spots.

By far the heaviest piece I’ve made but it’s now become my favorite!
