Monthly Brownham Challenge: Mythology AU
An extremely loose take on the legend of the Lorelei, water spirits rumored to lure sailors to their deaths.
I.
His transgressions banished him to the surface world. He stayed wet when he could, slept when he couldn’t.
It was in his dreams that he met the Other. A being of the surface, but one so hyper-connected to all life that He was, in fact, disconnected. In slumber He drifted through a veil where similarly sequestered voices called into the darkness, wanting only to know that someone else was there.
II.
At first, the sinking was only in His dreams.
Then His showers lasted until his teeth chattered.
His skiff saw no rest, as exhausted as its’ pilot.
On that tenth night of floating in the river, He drifted to sleep, fingertips lazily skimming the water’s surface.
III.
A silky, seamless slip from the water. A shifting of weight on the skiff.
His eyes fluttered open.
The young man paused, water pooling around his feet.
“You know, it’s supposed to be the other way around.”
Will Graham sat up, tipping his head inquisitively.
The young man knelt before him, moonlight illuminating a fascinating half-smile.
“I’m the one whose supposed to call you.”
Wizarding world AU where Matthew is constantly poofing Will’s clothes away, and if they’re in public, sometimes just his undies.
