Does someone want to help me develop an extension/add-on for browsers to give trigger warnings?
So I love tumblr savior. It's wonderful and I really really appreciate having it.
And I was wondering if there exists something similar at a global level? And if not, would some developer/coder/monkey/whatever type of qualified person like to help me create one?
Here's what I think would be nice:
People enter in key words or phrases. It can be as broad or specific as they'd like.
The browser (I use Chrome, but of course I think cross-browser use is always fantastic) then scans pages as they load (basically like a ctrl+F / search function) and pops up with a warning if a person's trigger words appear on that page.
The user can choose to continue or navigate away from the page.
I think something like "the term X shows up Y number of times on this page" would be snazzy. I think options to black out content would also be nice. I've had some conversations with friends about the unfortunate inability to have trigger warnings on pages like Facebook or other social sites and I'd love for there to be a way to deal with that.
I have no idea how to make any of this happen, but I think it would be a lovely extension to have on browsers and I'm hoping someone somewhere might be able to make it happen.
