Duets - Karaoke as a competitive sport
A prime example of how a horrible script can completely sabotage fine actors and an interesting concept. Watched this with the wife one extremely bored evening off of our 'on demand' menu, when nothing else looked remotely interesting (one of those cases, where we would have been better off turning off the tube and doing something else).
But the more I think about it, even the 'interesting concept' is a bit stupid to begin with -- "karaoke hustlers??" traveling around to enter karaoke contests and making side bets on the outcomes? Like a real bad extended "Fantasy Island" segment with plot outcomes almost as predictable.
Directed by Bruce Paltrow (husband of Gwyneth?? this might explain a lot)
