"BEING BAD FEELS PRETTY GOOD, HUH?”

down a busy street walked two people. a woman and a young girl. the woman was dressed in thick armor, something you’d see out of a comic, and the girl..well, she appeared to be wearing normal clothes from what was seen. the warrior had just stopped an attempted break in, something you see every night in these parts of town. she remembered the girl. she ran into her at the coffee shop, stopped the drink from spilling on her. but that was when she was diana prince, not wonder woman. so she couldn’t say anything. 

it wasn’t that the two were doing anything bad. at least, in diana’s opinion anyways. with a tilt of her head, and a raise of her brow she looked at the other. “i can’t answer your question, young one. i wasn’t being bad. but it did feel good making sure those nimrods were locked up.” she replied, a weak smile on her lips. “what are you doing out here so late, anyways? don’t you have school tomorrow? it’s not safe for a young girl to be out here.”

It’s just, I wish I had more time to seek out the dark forces and join their hellish crusade.

“Uh huh. Take it from someone who’s seen plenty of and even fought against the dark forces Kid. They’re a total mess.”

Zach didn’t even look up from his paper as he spoke. But he often loved when people threw out a weird sentence he could totally rationalise, now he got to have a little fun.

“They have no real hierarchy, it’s all kill or be killed. And since everyone’s out for each others blood there can be no real job security of chances for promotion or advancement. Plus they have no union and several pending lawsuits with the forces of light.” he added lightly.

“Oh, and the living conditions? Pfft, you ever been to the fourth realm? That’s where they have out and the place is squalor. Total filth pit, and the things that grow in those pits have an appetite for human flesh. They’ll eat you up and discard your soul to forever be trapped betwixt and between in limbo where you’ll cry for eternity but none shall hear you scream.”

He looked at her over the paper, smiling pleasantly, “So, tell me kid, how does joining the dark forces sound now? ... If it helps they got bitchin uniforms.”

“We have to change our names and run away to Mexico. It’s the only way. Adios.”

Jason tilted his head, still holding his guns in his hands. He made a slight humming sound, holding up one of his firearms.

“Because of this?”

He looked around for a moment, and realized that the body count was probably higher than it should have been, and looked back at Molly. 

“You’re probably right. But I’m not really known for making great decisions, so I think I’ll stick around.”

“You’re chatty at all the wrong times, kid.” 

Jason pulled back the slide on his gun now that they had a lull in the fighting, fixing what had gotten jammed before taking out his magazine and checking how many rounds he had left. “You’re awfully talky for someone who could have very nearly died just now, y’know that? I mean, Jesus, you gotta have a comment for everything, huh?”

He shook his head to himself more than to Molly, looking around the corner to see that there were more goons coming out after them. “Now, remind me, are these guys coming after you or me?” he asked, locking the magazine back into his gun. They had started running together so often that it was hard to tell who was after whom, most days. 

“You know what? It doesn’t matter. It’s not like I’d abandon ya if they were after you. I don’t know about you, though. Would you abandon me if it came down to things?” Jason paused. “You know what? I don’t wanna know. Let’s just get the fuck out of here.”

“What’s wrong with me?”

“Who the hell said there was a problem with you?” Peggy looked up from the report she was writing, unsurprised by Molly’s appearance in her office. Instead, she simply laid her pen down and stood from her chair, walking towards the young girl. 

Since their first meeting, Peggy had been careful about watching out for her. If they needed to bring her in, Carter was the one to do it. The protective hand and careful assurances seemed to have won her the girl’s trust- something that Peggy viewed as invaluable. 

“Hm? Who said that, Molly? Evidently someone who’s going to get a ninety-five-year-old English foot up their ass.” Peggy closed and locked the door behind the girl, laying a gentle hand on her shoulder. She meant to steer the girl towards the chairs in her office, but it seemed like this was where Molly planted her feet. So Peggy stood as well, her heels left at her desk and feet flat on the floor. They would get through this, together.
