Queen’s Arts 2021
I grew up kinda in the country and kinda downtown Kingston. My high school was basically on Queen’s University campus, plus I did a lot of community theatre which often happens to be based at Queen’s. This means I partied and hung out with a lot of Queen's students, and just let everyone think I went to Queen’s. The reality was I had no intention of going to Queen’s after high school because I wanted to leave my city.
Regardless, there I was sitting in class at 10:30 am replying to this snapchat group made for only people going into ArtSci 2021 at Queen’s. I can't fully remember how I got there. Myself and my best friend Josh who was a grade lower- grade 11, so not even about to graduate- were added by some guy named Sean who actually belonged in that groupchat. Josh and I are pretty sure Sean was hitting on us both at one point, thus adding us to this chat?? I know it doesn’t make sense, but we were never given an explanation by Sean.
In this chat, there’s this one girl who was a goddamn riot. There were points where no one else in the group would be talking except for Josh, myself, and this girl who was going by Mik Burnz. Later, the three of us made our own chat, exchanged numbers, and really started to become friends. Maybe a month or more went by since Josh and I were added to the groupchat, and we set up a time to meet Mik (Mikaila). She came to Kingston from Oakville for her school orientation, and we all got brunch. The three of us have all remained pretty close in these short 2/2.5 years, but in the past year Mik has become my absolute-super-mega-best-friend-soulmate.
That’s the weird way of how I met Mikaila!
