Ophelia sighed, taking a seat at her new, bare desk. A new city, a new life. She reminded herself gently, and placed her box of things upon the mahogany surface. Denver was different--higher altitude for one thing. It had taken her a few days to really understand what it meant to live at a mile high elevation. It was a lot prettier than Las Vegas too. She had a perfect view of the mountains from her desk--a breath taking sight indeed. She liked her new loft apartment she had acquired in the lower downtown district, and even her neighbors were nice enough. However, something had stayed the same from her trek to Denver from the good ol’ sin city. “Royce! My office, 5 minutes!” A loud voice called her name and she stood up quick, knocking her knees on the desk. “Shit.” She breathed closing her eyes and rubbing her kneed caps slowly. Good to know all police chiefs were scary--that was a relief. Not.

Ophelia looked once again at her empty desk. She could always organize it later. She straightened her leather jacket and took a deep breath before striding into the office. “Captain? You wanted to see me?” Phe said, her voice expertly concealing her nerves. She had been so focused on making sure she had sounded professional that she had failed to see the other man in the room. “Oh--Hi.” She replied, unsure of his title or how to address him.
