i still remember sitting in my friend's car, listening to this record, talking about the magic of music..the way songs have the power to hold our lives. music, as a time machine, moving us back to specific moments in time we might have otherwise forgotten. i've had several similar conversations, since then.. but this instance + this album mark the first for me. eyes wide, realizing it wasn't just true for me. eight years ago, she kept my copy in her car, and we both kind of forgot she'd borrowed it. (but i didn't forget for long 🤓) people get new cars + new places + new friends, but i hope this album stayed with her, somehow.. even without a physical copy, it sure stuck with me. these songs still save + fill + free me, ten years later. i can still see my sixteen year old self excitedly scanning for it at the end of the target aisle. saturday night, eyes wild after singing every word, i got to feel it all over again, as i held onto the LP. i promise i'm not gonna let go of this one!
