Black Speculative Arts Movement, aka BSAM, is a year long Afrofuturism, black comics, film, and arts convention held at multiple colleges, universities, and other venues across the United States and abroad. Co-founded in 2016 by afrofuturism scholar, Dr Reynaldo Anderson, and Midwest Ethnic Convention for Comics and Arts - MECCA founder, Maia Crown Williams, the events include presentations and vending from a vast amount of comic creators, scholars, activists, business owners, artists, science fiction creators, musicians, and artisans, as well as the MECCAconIFF. Students are also welcome to submit proposals to participate as well. We also heavily encourage schools to attend in groups BSAM STL is honored to be hosting our event this year at the Missouri History Museum.
