But everyone says that Dazai from the Beast already knew everything at the age of sixteen? Where is this information taken from? Did Dazai really know from childhood about the alternate reality of the Beast that he lived in? Thank you in advance for your response/information/your opinion on this matter!
I am sorry I took so long to get back to this one.
Now that Side A and three parts of Side B has been translated, I guess we can all agree that 16-year-old Dazai has already known about the outcome of his meeting and Oda in the main timeline (where he invited Oda to join the Mafia) and also knew that Oda would die in Dark Era later. So he definitely has at least the memories of 18-year-old Dazai in the main timeline. However, he also knows that there will be people coming for the books later so he actually have seen even more than that... We don't know from what age Beast! Dazai found out about the existence of the book but yeah, as you said, he might have learnt about it since he was pretty young... And if that is true, it would be so sad because I would imagine him seeing the dear memories of his other self with Oda over and over again, to the point he becomes attached to Oda too (even before they met in Beast), and then having to make a decision that they should never be friends in this world in order to keep Oda alive. I know Dazai did a lot of cruel things in Beast, but he also gave up too many things for something that was never really his :(
