Oh 🥺♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love this scene 😂😂♥️♥️
Back in March I posted a list of five poems that I had written about by then. I have managed to add a few more poems since, so if anyone reading/watching Chihayafuru, or maybe Chōyaku Hyakunin Isshu: Uta Koi (which is a lovely and somewhat complementary series to Chihyafuru), and is looking to better understand the poems, get to know something about their authors, or even the classical Japanese language in which the Hyakunin Isshu poems were written, I invite you to take a look.
Poem 01. Aki no ta no (The autumn paddy…)
Poem 02. Haru sugite (So spring ends…)
Poem 08. Wa ga io wa (My own home…)
Poem 13. Tsukuba-ne no (Feel the love…)
Poem 16. Tachi-wakare (Note that though we may be apart…)
Poem 17. Chihayaburu (Impassionate gods…)
Poem 30. Ariake no (The sight of the lonely moon…)
Poem 40. Shinoburedo (Since I could not hide…)
Poem 42. Chigiriki na (Impassioned vows…)
Poem 46. Yura no to wo (Like a boatsman adrift…)
Poem 48. Kaze wo itami (When winds send waves…)
Poem 57. Meguriaite (Long last we meet…)
Poem 62. Yo wo komete (Said night was young…)
Poem 77. Se wo hayami (Swift waters…)
Poem 89. Tama no wo yo (Nothing can be worse…)
Poem 97. Konu hito wo (As I wait for someone…)
There is a Ogura Hyakunin Isshu Poems section on this blog, where all poems are linked (alternatively, see notes of this post).
And if you have a poem you would like to understand better, leave a note, I should be able to push it closer in my writing schedule. Thanks for reading! Stay safe and until the next poem.
The raws are out, and it seems there’s no Taichi in Chapter 230. Maybe next month! 😊
So Now officially, we have to celebrate 🎊 Taichi’s Omii-Jiungo trip anniversary 😌😂😂😂♥️
😂Am Sorry in advance,
since the first time I watched yuki and Manabe scene ( Fruits Basket ) , I've been seeing it as Saika and Hatcheman here 😂😂😂😂😂
yuki was over " Kawaiiiii😂❤️" CUTE here 😌
N/B: Hachiman and Manabe sharing the same voice actor 😀❤️
I think about this scene so much.
It may seem like it comes out of nowhere, or feel like a strange reaction, but it rings so true for all of us who grew up under the pressure of unsustainably high standards.
Praise is not a thing when results are not achievements, but expectations. Doing well is the norm and goes unacknowledged, or is attributed to being “naturally bright”, but failures to maintain the standard are your own fault. And you will fail. You’ll fail and feel like suddenly you’re not worth anything, because you’ve been told your whole life that you’re only as good as the grades on a piece of paper.
Sometimes something as simple as having someone acknowledge that we HAVE worked hard can mean the world, because we’ve gone our whole lives not hearing it.
Suetsugu: I wanted to draw a picture of Taichi and Hototogisu having a chance encounter in the park, and I wanted to draw Taichi looking a little surprised at Hototogisu. I thought, "You're really here, aren't you? It's a rare character and you might not see it very often, but Taichi and Hototogisu are both here! And. Taichi and Hototogisu are the only two people in the world (in the calendar world) who are like that, so I wanted you to find them.
(...)
Suetsugu: “The Hototogisu is a bird that announces the arrival of summer (≒ the end of spring), as it is written as "time bird", and it is also a bird that cries "I can't go home, but I want to go home", which is also written as "Fuyogare". Besides, as the song says, "There you are! But when I looked, he wasn't there." The fact that he's there but isn't, or isn't at an important point, or conversely, isn't there but is there, is also very Taichi-like.”
😍🙈🥺 Made me tear up🥺
Let’s talk about the head pat:
I know I said in my previous post that I was done with the Ayame posts…but this is actually more about Yuki. So yeah, lol. Anyway!
Ayame pats Yuki’s head.
This is a pretty important action. In Japanese culture, an adult patting the head of a child is a way to show praise, love, and other positive feelings of affection. When Ayame pats Yuki’s head here, it is a full on pat. His hand is palm down on top of Yuki’s head and there is a slight bit of pressure that makes it feel real and authentic to Yuki. You can see it on his face. The mixture of surprise that his brother is there and a sort of comfort.
Compare that with the “head pat” that little Yuki received from his mother in the flashback:
It was not directly on top of the head like Ayame’s pat was. It’s in the front of his head and as the scene continues, she physically pushes him backwards with the head pat and in the end it looks like this:
Her fingers are the prominent part of her hand patting Yuki’s head, and it looks more like she is just patting his hair really. It’s from a pretty far distance too, like she is using the head pat to keep Yuki away from her. It feels shallow, fake, utterly performative. And the way she pushed him backwards with it also fits in with her being physically abusive towards Yuki (we’ve seen her slap him in a previous flashback).
There is nothing comforting about this head pat. You can tell that Yuki gets no emotional healing or comfort from this pat. She’s using this fake cherry voice as she sings him empty praises about something Yuki doesn’t want and isn’t talking about. She doesn’t listen to him and is simply putting on a show - doing something she is “supposed” to do as a mother. That’s it.
By comparison, Ayame’s head pat is utterly natural. He waltz into the room, starts rambling nonsense about the rain, puts down a big ass bouquet of red roses, then directly addresses Yuki with “But worry not, Yuki!” and then his hand just lands firmly but softly atop Yuki’s head. There is no second thought, no physical abuse, no fake voice, and Ayame is actually directly addressing Yuki. They talked about the parent-teacher conferences before, Ayame knows Yuki’s worries since they discussed it a bit at his shop, and Ayame is pulling on that directly.
He lets Yuki know that he is there for him both verbally, through his words, and physically through the act of patting Yuki’s head. And he is keeping close to Yuki unlike their mother, who was super far from Yuki (even regardless of the Curse). Here Ayame is telling Yuki, “It’s okay. I’m here now. You’ve done great so far. Relax, I’ve got you.”
As a high school student, Yuki probably feels a bit of embarrassment over an action like this, since it is more reserved for kids, but I think his happiness and relief outweighs that. You can see just how glad and safe Yuki feels after that head pat. It’s precious! <3

And somehow 😃, He loves the word ( Pointless 😌) 😂😂😂😂😂
But fear not! I have the strength of a thousand men! That’s enough. Just bring him here. Right away, Tori-san! Don’t die on me, Yuki! Together at death! The promise that we made as we watched the sunset by the banks of the Seine shines brightly within my heart! We made no promise and watched no sunset! –You must stay awake, Yuki! - Fruits Basket 2nd Season - Episode 24
😂😂😂😂♥️The best part
I feel like we need to take a moment to appreciate they are all wearing Power Ranger colours. Yuki is in a Red jumper, Kakeru has a Black TShirt, Kimi has a Pink skirt, Nao in a Yellow jumper, and Machi is in her Blue school uniform! THEY REALLY ARE THE SCHOOL DEFENCE FORCE!!!!!! It’s so cute and so sweet and it really does just make them look like a bunch of misfits turned Found Family. I love them!!!!
